PICS Disappeared so I had to re-attach them.

This one is probably more suited to your tastes. :) It was short, but it was a real adventure due to the nature of the ride.

sucks about the flat, I don't think Ducati had that road in mind when they designed the Monster, good on you for proving them wrong :D

Pretty damn beautiful too, I'm jealous :D

Someone actually stole it??

I had it at the store when I paid for food, went to the bathroom and I couldn't find it. So what probably happened is I either dropped it at the register or in the bathroom. I looked for it not 5 minutes after it happened and it wasn't anywhere.

So it wasn't like it was lifted from me. But someone probably found the wallet, took the cash and tossed it.

pricks.

Too bad about the wallet and tire. Karma will come back at the person who took it.

Go Scotty! So much for Ducati poseurism.

When you say your pump didn't work, what were you using? I carry a high quality stubby bicycle handpump, never fails.

I like your muddy road shot too. I see a DS in your future, my friend.

Funny, a similar thing happened to me in Whitehorse last month when I left/dropped my camera in or near the library at closing. Came back the next day, nothing. Someone has my camera, probably the same dude who stole your wallet.

Thanks guys. And by the way, the road was WAY worse than those pictures show. But as a lot of you guys know, when it gets really bad, you can't afford to stop and take pics. :laughing

There were parts where we were spinning and sliding through the mud. ;) Phil has some better pics. :)

This one's a bit dirtier... but not quite.

Next will see the Monster skipping off rocks and crossing streams up west Harrison.

That was about the best route you could have taken through there for smooth packed roads.

Where's the pick of the tunnel over the Dam. Carpenter Lake.

it's only 600km. What really slowed us down was the Hurley pass. I could probably do it in one day but I wouldn't enjoy it (on a different bike even). 500km pavement (some of it rough with a lot of boulders/rocks on the road), 25 of it good packed gravel and 75 km or so of REAL rough shit.

Be a man and buy a tent... that goes for you too Greenboy! ;)

I think Greenie and I like a little challenge and adversity. Start early at the church, Lillooet later in the morning and back home by dark.

I think I am working most weekends this month - maybe a weekday when summer finally gets here?

4 grand give or take--the year, equipment, etc don't seem to matter much, they all end up around 4k.

Way cheaper in the States.

Ride the S2S up to Pemberton. Up to D'arcy, Anderson, Seton Portugue, Carpenter lakes. GoldBridge, Hurly pass, Pemberton Meadows and S2S home. A better route for a dual sport bike. Not overly challenging.

Those are both about $1,000 cheaper than local.

New is $5,999 at RMS, and a good low km used with some farkles should be in the $4,000 range +/- $500.

how much can a guy get into a good Killer for these days?

Brand new budget $7,000+ range OTD, plus another $3,000 - $5,000 for farkles (bash plate, Doohickey, handguards, rad guards, front brake lines, fork springs, jet kit and obnoxious pipe for that elusive 1+ hp edge, bags, more bags, also bags, footpegs, sturdier subframe bolts to name a few).

Used probably $4,000+ range for one in decent shape.

Plus new gear if you want it.

Basically, the cost of two Ducati services and a triple Moccacrappofuccochino with extra non-fat foam. :laughing

Buy one, you'll thank us (no really, we expect a free lunch out of this).

Yep.... much preferred vs. camping

On the rare occasion I do go camping, it is not with a bunch of belching, farting, grumpy sweaty leather/cordura clad hooligans.

Great pictures Scotty,

sucks about the flat and even more about the wallet...

strange thing here, is that people generally will return the wallet to the police (although typically less however much money you had)
then the police will interrogate you for a while just for good measure.
(not to mention the fact that you can go to jail if your wallet is stolen or lost because you are not carrying your alien registration card)

Hope you get all your IDs and everything back but it could always be worse, right...

That is an awesome trip with your "street" bike. Did you go over the Hurley? I did that trip with a bunch of nuts from ADV a few years back on my Vstrom. I too am considering a KLR as a back road DS bike, but this is what I would do if I had extra $$$:
