Well it's wasn't a ride per se because the bike was on a trailer.. but it's a trip nonetheless.

I figured for my frist track day to do it right so I headed down to Salt Lake with Nancy with our bikes in tow to Miller Raceway. What an AMAZING track... 4.5 miles of pure bliss and half way through the track you're wondering when it ends! It just keeps on going!

For the most part the trip would have sucked on a bike but there were some nice roads.

On the way down we saw some cool cloud formations and on the way back we had to stop for lunch at a place called the Hungry Redneck Cafe. Super friendly people and the food was awesome and lots of it. I was wearing my hamburger that contained a half pound of meat! mmmmm delish!

It was an amazing track day.. I still have lots of room to improve, I was one of the slowest on the track but I managed a few passes, dragged my toe once because my foot wasn't properly positioned which was a bit unsettling but all in all I learned a lot and had a great time. I got both knees down a bit and I'm still grinning from ear to ear.

you bastard i am sooo jealous. after seeing that track in person earlier this year, i too wanted to take a rip around on it. you can even rent their bikes, if you don't want to trailer down, but it costs considerably more depending on the kind of bike you want.

You could do it in about 15 hours if you're averaging the speed limit and there are some long hill climbs. We were probably around 17 hours because we were hauling 2 bikes and a bunch of stuff in a 4 banger that held up really well.

Sweet! I like your style. Were you near Oakridge a few weeks ago? (could have been more than a month). I saw the same bike and lid parked on 41st right before Cambie..

It was an amazing track. Definitely the BEST one that I've been lucky enough to ride.

My little Toyota pickup did its job and got us & two bikes there and back in one piece. Here are a couple of pics from the trip -

Wow! Good for you Jamie! I'm soooo jealous. You also managed to get some great shots of you ripping around the track.

Nancy, I'm glad to see you & your truck safely made the trip. I also notice the usual track groupie Doug was there too! Does he even own a streetbike anymore? ;)

You all look like you had a blast down there. One day I will take you up on your offer and tag along. It would be so much fun to do it together. Next time, I promise :thumbup

Okay Jess - track days galore in September & there are some inexpensive ones in Portland in early October (how can you beat $135 for Portland??)

Get your bike ready :)

That was an awesome day and it was great sharing the track with a few more Vancouverites. We lucked out on the 2nd day with the weather and it ended up being a bit less crowded so lots of track time for all.

Here's a couple more of that American fugitive.

Jess, what do we have to do to pull you away from that Starbucks and enjoy a track day with us?:devillook
