Stephen never takes his helmet off. Ever. Safety first!

http://www.swancharities.org/images/roadtrip2/100_1371.JPG

This is how the locals get around in Chewelah.

http://www.swancharities.org/images/roadtrip2/100_1375.JPG

Only in America would they have Jagermeister ON TAP. refilled daily according to the barkeep.

We asked one of the locals where I good place to go for dinner would be. They recommended, Sportmans. Apparently they have a five star chef who used to work for the Four Seasons restaurants in Maui. When we asked the server for the story behind this, she didn't say much as she was his second wife! We came to the conclusion that his divorce from his first wife was so bad that he had to leave the island! yikes. The meal we had was more fit for a classy steak house instead of some pub in the two horse town of Chewelah!

Entry point to the great road of C'ouer D'Alene Lake.

http://www.swancharities.org/images/roadtrip2/100_1403.JPG

Another flat but coarse farm road. The pavement was eating our tires very quickly... Thumbs down Stephen, Thumbs DOWN.

http://www.swancharities.org/images/roadtrip2/100_1407.JPG

Stopping in the run down town of Sprague it featured two insects. Praying Mantis's and swarms of Gnats. The motel we were at were covered in these Praying Mantis's and it is a death match every night. They just like to rip each other's heads off.

http://www.swancharities.org/images/roadtrip2/100_1409.JPG

Gnats! We were walking back from a dinner of starch and meat when a cloud of Gnats were hovering directly above Stephen's head. Funny for me! Even when we ran away the cloud of Gnats would stay perfectly above his head. When swatted at they would just part the cloud. It's hard to see them in the picture but they were there. On our way into town we probably killed 100 of these thing on our visor alone.

The notel motel featuring 70s decor. It was actually a decent place to stay.

Fall is coming. Sooner than expected. :surrender At 700am it was -1 or damn near close to it. Glad I bought my rain gear to keep the chill out.

Diablo Lake on Hwy 20. This was the busiest road of the trip but it didn't slow us down. No cops either which was suprising.

A great trip overall! Just past Winthrop are several options for GREAT roads. The highlight of the trip for me was the Chewelah, WA to Usk, WA road. It used to be a gravel road two years ago and now it is a ultra clean race track. If there was one road to throw blatant dis-regard for the law and my life it would be this one. Not a spec of gravel to be seen and oh so perfect corners. If it wasn't 7 degrees we could have 'enjoyed' it even more. Highlight this road on your Washington Map. Circle it too!

Well did you? Pin it, I mean?

Isn't motorcycling life good? So many great reports of so many people having wonderful times at all kinds of different places. And we can experience it vicariously with excellent write-ups and pictures without leaving the comfort of home.

Good to see the report and good to see you clearly had a blast.

The backroad between Chewelah and Usk, I 'discovered' it last month, wanted to keep secret to myself as it's not listed on Destinations Highways. Now it's no secret anymore:banghead

95% of people on this site will not venture past the squamish starbucks.

95% of the people we talk to on these trips think we are nuts for riding 400miles or 600kms in a day.

So the secret is safe!

If you are referring to the quality of road then yes, it must be rattlesnake grade. Felt good to ride on but I wouldn't take it to the edge of the tire.
