Returning from D'arcy this afternoon, I'm coming up to the long two-lane right-hander heading out of Squamish, and there is this yellow Nova SS in front of me. As soon as we get to the passing lane, the guy in the Nova drops the hammer and a huge cloud of blue smoke comes pouring out the back. I back off, thinking that he's going to dump oil in front of me, he slows down and I blow past him. Looks like something let go in the old POS.

Ladder frames, leaf-spring suspension, no handling, gas-guzzling big blocks etc. Hmmm, maybe I'll go out and get an old school bus for my next car.

Yea they don't handle that great, if you want that buy one of those anal german cars but at least they have some character.

agreed..... besides, you can just see the $$ ticking off the "modern" cars as soon as you drive them off the lot... 45,000.... 44,500,....44,000.... 43,250......
Whereas, the mint 65 Mustang Fastback... is 30,000.... 32,500..... 34,000....
Need I say more?

I used to love muscle cars. It's difficult to make money off them unless you have a very desireable model. It's all about the cool factor. Sure they aren't engineered like todays cars and they are gas guzzlers, but can you honestly call a GT500, or a Hemi Charger a shitty car?

It don't matter what it is.... chevelle, charger, cuda...they all get ticketed the same over 90 :p
Gas guzzlin big blocks are fun in the straights....but that's about it.

I own a 70 GTO...it may not handle and guzzle gas but you dont see them drivin around everyday.
If you don't own one you would'nt understand.

THis thread about a NOVA actually makes me chuckle..... at sportbike west they pawned off these "cycle canada" mags....inside one issue was the talk of the harley/porsche designed "Nova".
The word NOVA means a "start that gets bright and then returns back to a normal lumenency" (i think)//// BUT!!!...in spanish " NO VA" means' "No Go". :laughing
So it's quite appropriate to see a Nova on the side of the road, No va'ing :p

i had a 65 mustang fastback with a done up 289. i could easily spend 40 a day in gas. corners were interesting to say the least.

I'd rather get a Yugo. At least you can jump bridges in it! (well... sort of... --> Midas commercial) :D

i don't care how into ricers you are, there's no denying the coolness of a Nova SS. they stuffed a 396 (375 hp) in these things for 1970 or 1971 i think, that's the biggest they could fit without major factory mods.

I gotta tell you guys, I love the way those muscle cars are shaped. I'm really getting sick of the "round" cars they make these days. Take the new Nissan 350 for example. It's a very nice car, but all the cars the make these days are round!!! I'm slowly getting sick of it...

So true, it almost seems like everyone is trying so hard to break new styling ground but miss their mark so badly. The 350 has some interesting lines but just doesn't look right as a whole. Now the 300zx, that's a classy looking car. Some muscle cars are works of art. My favorite is the bad ass black Charger from The Fast and the Furious.

That was a sweet muscle car. I mean, how much more power can you ask for if you can actually pop a wheelie in a CAR??? :thumbup
