Do any of you have cameras for when you go riding?
Which ones are good?
How much are they?
Where can you get them?

Yeah, but not always. You talking digital?
Smaller ones like from Fuji are good.
Number of megapixels determine the price.
Futureshop, London Drugs, Ebay, online.

I've never tried mounting it to a sportbike, but I've got the sony ... i think tvr 720, it's got great quiality. I use it for all my stuff, downhill mtb, snowboarding, etc. Its a digital so I can get it to my computer, do all the editing, then dump it back to tape real easy. I think when I got mine it was around 1500

I will be picking up a digital camera some time in the future after I pay off all my debts ;) Just make sure you get one with at least 3 mega pixels other wise the quality of the image might not be that good.

I'm thinking of getting a digital camera for a bike trip this July, to Laguna Seca for the Superbike races.

I want to be able to post pictures every couple of days, but taking a computer along will not be practical. Are there any digital cameras that have simple enough interfaces that I could connect one up to a computer at an Internet cafe and do the upload?

Hey S&H :flip WELCOME ABOARD :flip

And just how old are you to remember that show...........

And as far as cameras go I got a 2.3 MP Minolta as a starter and I have to say that it is great. If all you want is casual snaps save a couple of bucks and go with a 2 to 2.3 MP. But get one that has a decent flash. Mine penetrates about as well as a candle in a London fog (no, not the coat Lloyd :D) I've been shooting all my raw work at the 300K jpg format and the results on screen are fabulous. And printed copies using my HP 952c onto glossy photo paper are at least as good as the one hour places at 5x7.

I'd be happy with mine up to about 8x10 but for anything more serious I'll go along with Ryan and suggest a 3 or 4 MP model.

if you don't have too much cash go for an intellicam by intel, they are webcam's that double as a digital camera, I got mine for $150 there is a newer version on sale at Future Shop in Langley for $260 it comes with a flash and a mic, so you can take videos with sound and pictures at night...

Your hilarious man. :laughing

I've got a Canon S100, it's the tiny 2.1MP digital camera that's about the same size as a pack of king sized cigarettes. It takes great pictures as long as there's enough light OR the subject is closer than 10ft if your in the dark.

But the one thing I love about the camera, is the fact that it's so small you can bring it with you everywhere, and you do because of this.. I find all the others to be too large and bulky to carry around.. plus the S100 has great featuers like a rechargeable battery, and others...

www.megapixel.net is a great source of info on digital cameras..

$340 but that was a couple of months ago so it's a discontinued model and will soon be consigned to a time capsule for future generations to stand in awe over.............

Got it at the beginning of October and by Christmas the Fuji 2400 zoom model I had really wanted was marked down to $300 :rolleyes But that's the consumer electronics market for ya...........

All this talk of digital still cameras is off the original topic.

Genuine, I gather from all this that no one has set up a mount for any sort of video camera locally.

Other than on the 'net the only product I've seen was up at Sportbikes West last summer. Someone had a camera mounted low on the fairing or some such because one of the forks was visible in the frame. He was showing pics of riding with the "fast" group that went on the south loop. Passing cars at around 200 khp happens in the blink on an eye. And the corners where the camera was on the low side were like being dragged down the road on your belly :eek

And back to cameras. The next one I get will have the movie feature and sound. With the size of the CF cards these days the movie feature will be a great feature. But it won't be much good for motorcycle mount filming. Too jerky for the motion involved. You'd still want proper video of some sort for a bike mounted camera.
