I had my bike stolen from my carport, the bike was pinned between my car and the wall.1 week later I get a phone call at 2 am in the morn. a cop saying they found my bike. What happened was a officer was on route to chilliwack from abbotsford for a break and enter,so he had his lights on.He came up to the bike and it didn't pull over so the cop radioed a road block and caught the asshead!! this idiot still had my stolen plates on it!!!anyway after a month of dealing with or lovely insurance co. they are fixing the bike. But i've been without it for 2 months and hurting. But I get it back the end of the month. I'm new to this forum and would like to go for one of those rides this summer.:thumbup

I think KAWBOY has a great idea. The guy that stole your bike should have his right hand chopped off. (see: can of worms)
with a dull axe~

Why stop with his hands? He should have everything chopped off, including his head. F*cking thieves.
Incidentally, I was looking into GPS systems. I haven't been able to turn up any small enough to install on a bike but Ralph's Audio sells the Boomerang system for cars and it's $499 installed with a $10 monthly charge. The system won't work on bikes because the unit itself is about a foot long and difficult to conceal on a motorcycle.

PorcheNut, correct me if I'm wrong, but does the GPS unit require a line of sight?

Nope, apparently they can completely hide the unit and it works in covered areas as well, (I don't know about underground garages though. I was told by one GPS expert that the antenna has to be visible, but then the Ralph's salesperson refuted that. They've sold lots with all the units completely hidden.

pn: i was lightly looking into this last year when my zx-9r was stolen. there are a few companies working on pendants for alzheimer patients and children. i read a story of a guy in japan who stuck one under his seat. when his bike got stolen he just went online and did a trace. when the cops went to where it was, they recover over 50 other bikes and broke a theft ring.
we should see if this type of service is available in canada.

Finally they caught one of the bastards. My 02 ZX-6R is still missing after it was stolen on July 7th.
