internet = no service
internet = no warranty
interent = no bonus for repeat business
interent = no protection, or pre-inspection
internet = no shops around to fix your nightmares!
sorry not to be a smart-ass, but to answer your question, in my opinion, the best site for what you're looking for is the floor of a local shop.
just my opinion, pick any one

Why not buy from a local shop?
Because in most causes it's cheaper to buy online.

i work in a shop and i couldn't get even close to the deal that i just got on my ohlins shock. retail up here in cold ass canada-$1749.99. my cost up here-$1400 plus tax. price from the warm sunny state of california shipped to point roberts including duty- $1367. i'm gonna be buyin a suit next- retail up here $1199, in the states $599. with the dollar the way it is and hardly anyone adjusting prices for the decline of the us dollar now is the time to buy from the damn yankees.

I fully agree. jkripps don't let anyone fool you with all the "support your local shops" get the best deal you can find, if it's here then great if not go online. I wear shoes but I don't support my local shoe maker.

Oh and on a side note though, for some stuff I always go to Kev at Van Yam or the guys at BK because they're good people.Customer service goes a long way with me. But if I save more than 50 bucks or so buying online I'll go that route.

I bought most of my gear locally. However, when you compare the prices on the internet for the same item, ie boots, and they are over $100 Cdn cheaper even after duties paid, what do you do?

Check out this site. www.newenough.com
Bought from them before. No problems. With the US exchange rate, the deals are unbelievable.

i bought my jacket from newenough. it was at holeshot racing on sale for a tad over $800, i got it taxes and duties paid for about $430. That's a hell of a saving.

Lids are also a lot cheaper on the net.

I don't know...I've had this conversation too many times with too many people. :rolleyes It's always the new guys that are all about saving $50 to buy something online, sight unseen...almost everyone I know who's been in the sport for more than 3-4 years has realized how much money+headache it can save you in the long run to buy from local shops.

I mean in ssblade's case, saving $400...you can't argue with that. But for $50? :confused C'mon...

I'm looking at buying a suit, which is $200 more at Richmong Motorsports, than buying over the Internet, I asked the girl at at the counter if she could match the Internet price & I would buy from RMS, all I got was a shocked look & no real answer.
Tell yer what, I aint no new guy by a long stretch, but if RMS want to charge me $200 so I can be their loyal customer, then Fuck em.

I'm a 21 yr. vet in the sport, and still appreciate a good bargain. A lot of stuff I have bought from ebay, with awareness of the seller, and no problems at all so far. I have saved hundreds of dollars, eg:

1) Arai signet helmet, new - $234 CDN shipped, duty paid (retail here for $600+)
2) Sidi shorty boots, new - $30 CDN, shipped (retail here for $100+)
3) Fieldsheer leather race pants, new - $75 CDN, shipped (retail here for $200+)

These are but a few examples of great deals from ebay, shipped to Blaine and brought across.

I also do shop at local stores, just recently bought a JR tankbag from BK, so if the price is right then I will support the local businesses.

Go to your local shop, have the customer service of them fitting you with what you want, check the price, find out what kind of deal, and then shop around... Find it on the internet for cheaper if you can from a reputable source.

Ebay is great if you are not in a hurry and can wait around for the deal to pop up

i've gotten all my recent gear from ebay brand new in packaging.

Shoei RF900 (Picotte)- $250 US vs $769 CDN
Teknic Lightning- $150 US vs $449 CDN
Joe Rocket GPX Gloves (My best deal)- $25 US vs $149 CDN

All BRAND NEW. I try to support local shops when i can, but when i can find a great deal i won't pass it up.
