ok, it's 4 in the morning and i'm reading through all this bs about shops and people being screwed over and dissatisfied and i thought i'd help everyone out a bit.

i just wanted to give credit where it's due with Bill (5th Gear) about what he does for all of us in the MC community because i don't think it's ever been stated "exactly" what he does for us.

I've only known Bill for a few years but i can honestly say that he personally has contributed more to the local bike scene than all the local major dealerships combined. i'm getting so sick of people going to the dealerships because they think they're friends with the parts guy or they gave you a special credit card and that means they care about you. if somebody has some info about anybody else other than small shops contributing $$$ to the local scene, please lemme know.

These dealerships are multi-million dollar operations. i haven't seen one of them say, "hey, let's kick in a few bucks for the stunt riders", or "the motard scene is picking up, let's help these boys out", or "let's help out some of our local road racers with sponsorships because we know how hard it can be to get by". NOPE. all these fuckers see is $$$$$$$$$$ signs.

I'm not only talkin 'bout 5th Gear. i'm talkin about all the little shops like MSpeed, Borderline, Supersport etc., that depend on customer support and not bike sales or charging an arm and a leg for service.

I've watched little shops pour thousands of dollars outta their own pockets into local events and they see no return. Bill puts on events at Boundary Bay once or twice a week and trust me, he ain't makin money off that shit. the few of us that have been there since the beginning know this. these guys do this cause they want to. big shops do it because they want to make $$$$.

riding areas have been lost because of lack of support from major shops whose riders practice at these facilities but never kick in any coin. then most of us stunt riders who are doing our shit as hobby get blamed for ruining public riding spots for these factory sponsored assholes, GO FUCK YOURSELVES.

i know it was a long rant but the next time you think about gettin new tires put on or a tune up done or anything else for that matter, support a little shop that will support you back. guys that you can come back to where they know you by name and may give you a deal on parts and labour even know you're gonna get stuff done cheaper and with more care in the first place.

Rog, go around the back - you can't miss all the bikes in the lane. The back of the same building as the scooter dude. The unit # is 2170 (not 2710 I got from Telus directory assist).

yeah Bill has definitaly helped out this biking community in a big way and really deserves some credit. People should really support him. Hes a good honest guy and his prices are unbeatable. There are other good shops around but overall Bill at 5th gear really takes the bag.

the only way i would ever set foot in a dealership was if i won the lottery and was gonna buy some bikes, other than that they can kiss my ass.

i rather pay for local small size business to do my work, you do get more attn on your bike and they do seriously treat you like a customer than just a number. HOWEVER being a one man shop, the mechanic can only do so much. either he's a really good mechanic or a really good operations person.

u'll have a great mechanic but then when it comes to customer service, following up with stuff, they just don't have the time. having said that i still like small shops better, get better value and price on service

Am I the only one who despises sitting on HOLD?
At 5th Gear someone always answers the phone quickly and I'm sure we all take that for granted but its a rarity.I urgently needed a replacement part and within seconds of calling arranged to buy it from Bill for less cash then the cost of the daytime cel phone minutes I wasted sitting on hold with a major dealer. The big boy poser shops seem to enjoy passing customers around and forgetting about them or even just hang up on them frequently!!! This is an example of having zero professionalism and is a definate sign of poor operations management for sure.
I am pretty sure Bill loses money most times he hosts our stunt events and I for one plan on supporting him with any and all non warranty work and parts I ever need.
