I saw a Honda 125 with a COLLECTOR plate. It is a standard bike. the condition is sooooooo damn good, show room condition.

All veterans are cool. I saw a white gold wing last weekend with one. The rider seemed too young to be a veteran though. I guess anyone who's been in the Canadian Forces can get one...

Maybe he went to Afghanistan and made it back.

Didn't think of that. He seemed too old to have gone to Afghanistan though. Did we send anyone to the Falkland Islands?

"The Falkland Islands have been invaded, I repeat, the Falkland island have been invaded" - Krusty the Clown.

hehe

And also, collector plates should be allowed on all bikes 5 years old or more, since 90%+ of them don't even last that long! ;)

Damn, everytime I see one of those plates, I give them a wide berth. You never know when they are going to choke on a Werthurs and swerve into your lane.

No, the Falklands "war" was a strictly Margaret Thatcher affair, and the Argies are still complaining about the Belgrano. Rule Brittania, Brittania waives the rules. I'm sure the Americans will be next, coming out with a special plate for all the "heroes" who helped make Iraq safe for democracy.

FYI, The average age of Veterans in Canada is 36.

A few weeks ago when the furor over the suggestion that seniors be issued an "S" (like learners who get the "L" or "N") to identify them as senior drivers, a friend of the family was ranting about how bad an idea that was and that it was discrimination against seniors.

I piped up and said we don't need an "S" to identify seniors... We have Veteran's plates and CAA Gold stickers. And then glanced over at his car, where I could see that he had *both* showing. :)

I'm 34 and i can get one. I was in the Gulf War, and i served on a United Nations tour in Cambodia.

I was shocked when i was told i could get one. To me, it just doesn't seem right. I thought they were to remember the Veterans of the World Wars and Korean war.

Dunno, that may be just me though....

You can still be serving to get one... u just had to be a participant in one of the following:

A) Served in WWI, WWII, the Korean War or the Gulf War as a member of :
- Canadian Armed Forces; or
- An Allied Force; or
- Canadian or Allied Merchant Navy; or
- The Ferry Command
and who has been Honourably Discharged.

B) Served as a member of the Canadian Forces meeting the National Defence Professional Classification requirements (MOC Qualified)

C) Served in United Nations or NATO Operations as a member of:
- Canadian Forces; or
- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police; or
- A United Nations or NATO Alliance Force
and who has been Honourably Discharged.
OR
Served as a similarly qualified member of the British Commonwealth of Nations Force and who has been Honourably Discharged.

That is straight from the Application for Veteran Plate Eligibility sheet.

For those that may want to order one for a grandparent, parent, etc.

Being a Veteran doesn't mean a WAR VETERAN only.

Doesn't matter. Got a Veteran's plate, getting out of your way.

Might as well have the matching handicap rearview mirror decal to go with it, but where would you put that on a bike.

...BTW, I make joke...
