Yeah, I was just going to post my reply in it but I got an invalid thread message. Someone shut it down.

Well, I typed it all up so here is what I was going to say about what it is to be a Canadian, if you were born somewhere else:

The issue is too hot and touchy on all sides to have a healthy debate. It will degenerate in name calling no matter what you do.

Here's how I feel about it:

I think everyone should be able to speak whatever language they want but they should also have to learn at least one of the official languages, preferably the one spoken in the region where they live.

I think that all business should be conducted in the language of the land primarily. I don’t have a problem with secondary languages if both parties engaged in said business speak it and prefer it.

I think everyone should be able to believe in whatever they want and be able to actively engage in the pursuit of their religious believe. None should be able to hold their religion above others and force it on the masses.

I think that every Canadian’s loyalties, be they political, military, cultural…you name it, should be to Canada first and then, if there isn’t a conflict of interest, to the country they left behind. We need national unity and a strong identity and we need to feel that we can rely on each other to stand up for our Canada, no matter where we came from and what colour our skin is.

So let me take this opportunity to publicly apologise for MY responce to Liquid.
I missed the last few lines of his post, as I got increasingly pissed off while reading it.
I know it wasn't YOUR personal views in there, so my sincere apologies.
Cheers

he took a newspaper article forwarded to him by someon else, and posted it to start a discussion going...which it did, except I didn't read the last couple lines explaining where it came from.

it said at the end:

"This was sent to me by a relitive.....my family has been been in Canada dating back over 1000 years ..... Some of you will not agree with this..but please respect all opinions..

Tell your opinion of what is means to be a Canadian ? "

As a result, My reply was a responce as if they WERE his views, causing the whole shiznit.
I've asked Liquid to slap it on here again, but it's up to him..

M'kay?
