yes..this family somewhere in the section of the townhouses/condos that i live in own a few cats..and bad cats..they poop all over my deck and walkway. They climb onto my CAR and slide off it, leaving muddy paw prints and scratches and sometimes when i leave the door open to cool off, they even come into my house with there muddy paws...i don't know who's cats they are and they are always roaming around...hence, i want to harm them..any suggestions you have would be great

p.s. this sounds really bad, but i'm freakin mad and i don't want a $35 animal ruining my paintjob and carbon fiber hood!!!

p.s.ss i don';t actually want to kill it, as so much as get rid of it!

Ha ha, but then it might light up other things in your appartment.
Maybe you can lure it into grabbing hold of a string on the ceiling fan, I remember seeing a video of that...

Oh, and BTW, mine cost $135. Just making sure we all have our facts straight. ;)

Fack..get a spray bottle dude. Or better yet, just prime the hose with water. When you see them give'm a good hosing with it and pretty soon you won't see them any more..

Haha, my girlfriend says just grab one and tie a little note to it's neck or something and hold the other one hostage!...I can see it now..."Dear owner of this cat, we have your kitty. A list of demands to follow." :evilgrin

Next time the cat comes through your place, grab it and shave it! It'll never come back again.

take a picture of it and post it around the units with a note saying the owner needs to take care of its cat in a different manner as it is causing financial and other monetary losses. make it general enough that they cant pin it on you and target you.

you could probably contact spca or someone, animal control, and get it caught/removed or something i dunno.

Cats are a tough one, they'll do what they bloody well please. I've owned many of them over the years, what you need to do is make in uncomfortable for them to do the things that bother you.

Climbing all over your car, keep it wet for a week or two, hose it off every chance you get.

Coming in your place, be waiting for them with a squirt gun or spray bottle and let 'em have it with water.

Pooping on your deck and walkway, that's a wierd one. Cats are normally lothe to leave their droppings unburied, but try keeping it wet to..

And as others have said, give your local SPCA a call, they'll have some thoughts as well

Haha, so true, got one cat right now, she's sitting in the window behind the screen as I was watering the garden, I gave the screen a quick spray... now whenever I get the hose and start to water she takes off.. They learn fast.

Another thing is they also hate anything citrus, lemon, orange, smells like that. You can buy "cat be gone" products at Bosley's and other pet supply places, they are usually a concoction of citrus aromas..

hmmm..decent thoughts

as to the water ideas..i tend to leave my car at home sometimes when i drive with other friends and my room is upstairs so i don't have the time/patience to constalty watch my car and water a cat, so that's not really an option.
i'll call the SPCA tomorrow

What's a wrist rocket?

I have seen "pet sentry" devices: a motion sensor attached to a spray bottle and/or loud noise emitter. When the cat triggers the motion detector SPLOOSH! Maybe suitable for your deck, but not for your car. Also pricey, as you can imagine.

why not leave antifreeze in a bowl?
there was a news article on how a group was trying to lobby the antifreeze makers to add a bitter taste to it . something about the sweet taste it currently has makes it hazardous to babies and animals cause it doesn't stop them from ingesting it.

You guys have really disturbed and upset me. I can't believe you would even think of harming someone's pet in these ways (especially with the anti-freeze), as mentioned. It is horrible and you should be ashamed of yourselves!

That said, in no way am I condoning owners of pets that do not care for them properly and you do need the handle the situation in some way.

Call the SPCA, have them remove the pet that is causing the trouble. If that is not possible, I liked the idea of catching the animal, check for a tag, contact pet owner, advise them of the problem. Give them a chance to fix it. They are probably not aware that you even have issues with their pet and should be given a chance to rectify the situation without having to deal with the sadness of losing a family friend. Spraying the cat with water is fine too, that should deter them also.

As far as anti-freeze goes, this will cause a cat to suffer from kidney failure, which is a painful death for the animal!! Not a GOOD SOLUTION!!! Also, this is not fair to the owner (and perhaps even a child who will now be missing his/her pet) having to deal with the loss of a family friend and/or vet bills, assuming they realize what has happened to their cat in time to save it before it dies from injesting the anti-freeze.

C'mon... you have a right to try and find the owner and let them know a problem, not take matters into your own hands and harm a defenseless animal!!! :firemad

BlackScorpion
07-20-2005, 10:35 AM
Give the owner one warning. If the problem continues, befriend the cat, stuff it into a box and drive it very, very far away.
It's not the cat's fault the owner is a selfish and irresponsible. Give the cat a fighting chance.

In my neighborhood, owners treat dogs like cats. They let them run around loose. It's scary at night when they run around in packs, especially when I'm walking back from the grocery store with a roast chicken....

I agree. It's not funny to talk about killing defenseless animals.

Speaking about kidney failure, my cat just died from that last week. It cost $850 in vet bills. I would have paid a lot more to save it if I had the option.

We have a couple of cats in the place here that used to go in my flower gardens all the time. We tried everything! That pepper stuff to keep animals out, the gell stuff that smells very citrusy, etc. Once a cat is established, they are quite hard to deter since it is their territory. In the end, after lots of cash wasted, we bought a "scarecrow" sprinkler system. Just hook it up to the hose, turn it on, and anything that gets in its way gets nice blast of water! It's based on motion sensors, costs about 100 bux, and it kept the cats away. It was fun to watch for the first few days as the cats kept trying to come in the yard. Eventually, they just gave up and now they don't even come near the yard. It's humane, effective, and fun.

Owners who let their cats outdoors cannot really control them. There's just no possible way other than making them house cats, and if they are used to being outside, they will be miserable inside all the time.

I agree.. If any one tried to harm my cat in any way like with antifreeze I would make sure they suffer from kindly failure as well… That’s just no way to treat an animal…

SPCA is a solution; however think about what happens to them if no one claims them…
I would suggest a spray bottle and just give them a little spray... that wont harm them..

I love cats too, but not outside.

Cats that can wander outdoors should have to pay for all the birds they eat and plants they dig up or bury with their shit.

Our yard is pretty much cat free; two large terriers and an electric fence work wonders.

Our vegetable garden is in our neighbour's yard and is pretty much a giant litter box. I wouldn't eat anything out of it that was near the ground or not cooked.

I'm really counting on the inherent sarcasm level around here to discount the cruel suggestions. I know there are damaged people who have fun torturing animals, it's not on in my book. My wife and I are foster parents for a local rescued animal society, it's so great to take a scared, lonely, sometimes abused animal and give it a quiet loving home, see them go from cowering all day in the closet to purring on the couch. I think that's why people will get more outraged by suggestions of violence against animals, usually animals just want to be loved and don't mean to offend.

Anyway... water works and doesn't hurt. We keep a squirt bottle with water, usually one or two hits will solve the problem.

I despise people with "outdoor" cats, being a cat owner myslef I believe in indoor lifestyle.

Outdoor cat's always cause problems. Warn your neighbour once, they don't do anything about... I say take the kitty for a long drive 3 hours + or it will come back.

Who cares if it is their "beloved" pet, if they truly loved it they would keep track of it.

One of the neighbourhood cats has adopted the sunroof on our car as his sleeping place, which we're okay with. But the cat who is pissing on the tires of our motorcycles will be dealt with in an unpleasant manner if I catch it.

If your cat goes out of your yard and annoys people in their homes and damages their property, YOU deserve to all the abuse the victims will want to aim at YOUR cat. Unfortunately, once a cat is off your property, no-one knows who it is and they will treat it like we treat our homeless.
Alternately, they might fall in love with it, feed it and keep it safe indoors where it belongs.
I don't have a cat anymore, because I can't keep my doors shut. That is too claustrophobic for me.

As my veterinarian says "Cat eat birds and mice and mice and birds" I don't care if they eat the mice or not. Any cat stupid enough to hunt birds in my yard deserves to be taken out by a dog.

You obviously don't love your cats that much if you'd only be willing to spend $135 to aid them in a medical emergency.

Also, most of you will probably consider me crazy and at the far other end of the scale but recently my cat has been diagnosed with kidney failure and I have the $2,500 vet bill to prove it. She is still alive though and I will do whatever it takes (or spend however much) to keep her happy and healthy as long as she can remain that way. Not to mention countless hours of force feeding with a syringe (2 months worth) and now for the rest of her life, fluid injections with a needle every three days at home that I have to do myself.

Further, I have a 2nd cat... and both of my little critters are indoors only and only go outside onto my private patio so they don't bother any of my neighbours in any way.

I have a cat and I'd never poison it or anything like that for being bad. I just use my spray bottle and it runs like hell!!! but I also keep my cat indoors, I dont' want it to go outside and raise hell and have to worry about ppl killing it because once it's out of your control it's all up to society. And if someone decides to kill your cat because you haven't been keeping a close enough eye on it. it's the OWNER'S FAULT. Like it was said earlier we are intelligent human beings who know what we do and the consiquences of those actions, a cat doesn't know. If a cat kept shitty on my porch I'd have no problem with leaving anti-freeze out.
And if it was a dog, I'd definately leave a high powered mouse trap with some kibble in it. Especially after one stupid dog bit me down the trails while mountain biking, the owner says: "hehe sorry, he's never seen a bike before" so why wasn't it on a leash.
Fucking stupid animal owners! Don't take care of your pet and somethings gonna happen...

on a side note there is a cat which keeps hanging out outside my front door. I feed it cat food every morning. It's a really nice cat, it doesn't shit on my stuff or scratch my car.

But the cat who is pissing on the tires of our motorcycles will be dealt with in an unpleasant manner if I catch it.
I see I'm not the only one who's had this problem! However I generally keep my bike covered...thus it was on the cover most of the time which was even nastier. Took it over to my neighbor a couple times and made her clean it. Thankfully they only have 1 cat left now...and it seems to have stopped so I'm guessing the one that's left wasn't the one doing it (I saw all of them in our carport so I didn't know which one it was).

Oh and trust me its is not that easy to keep a cat indoors once it has been out side.. So don’t start saying that if the people really love that cat they will keep it inside.. Its not that simple..
Yes it is. But the cats that are being referred to here aren't the ones that manage to escape out an open door or window once a month, they're the ones that "live" outside and are a constant problem. I'll rephrase the saying...if people really love their cats, they will make an honest effort to keep it inside. Besides...if you don't let the cat out in the first place...keeping it in isn't so hard.

Personally as frustrated as I get I could never actually hurt a cat, but I don't believe they belong outside. If I wanted to deal with cat problems or dig around in a litter box (ie my garden) I would have my own.

Well I am sure glad my cat is an indoor cat. And I don’t think cats belong out side.

I do agree with most of you that yes it is not that hard to keep a cat indoors... However there will always be a cat that will be determined.

I don’t think its crazy… The last visit was $500 worth because my cat was not eating and vomiting... it turned out to be upset stomach (just a bit of gas) however I knew that my cat would be ok and that’s what mattered in the end.

Jayson....I never said I'd KILL someone if they hurt my pet, I said I'd prolly rough em up in my earlier post. I said that I would have an easier time harming a person than an innocent animal. This isn't to say I go fighting or hurting people for fun, I don't, but if someone deserves a shot to the head i'll be happy to deliver.

Floman.....I dunno exactly why you chimed in, but that is a pretty sweet joke, and I've heard it many times. I don't really understand why you seem to dislike me based on my posting, I think we should go have a beer one of these days and actually discuss our opinions, I think you'll find we're very similar......or we'll just beat the snot outta each other....either way ot'll be a grand ol time :thumbup :drinkbeer

I do love my cats, so much so that i've spared them from euthanasia for 7 years now. If we hadn't adopted them, they would have died 7 years ago. But I know that I can find another lovable cat simply by making a trip to the local SPCA. If I take the dying cat with me, I can say my goodbyes to one cat, and my hello's to another, at the same time.

Further, I have a 2nd cat... and both of my little critters are indoors only and only go outside onto my private patio so they don't bother any of my neighbours in any way.
:thumbup That's exactly how we keep ours. It really makes the most sense.
