So I had Pilot Powers put on today at 5th Gear (thanks Bill).

I have read so many good things about them, and I had been there the day before for an oil change, and saw the tires, so thought might as well do it (tires needed replacement anyhow).

I can't believe how much better they feel than the stock BT014's. It's a night and day difference. They are so sticky!

I scrubbed them out on the way home and took them right to the edge on the large right from SW Marine to W.16th.

I usually did that on the last tires, but they always felt so squirrly.

No real point to this thread, just wanted to express my happiness with the tires. :flashy

Yeah but would run Power Races in the rain?

Pilot Powers are good. I wouldn't really compare them to SuperCorsas or Power Races...those tires are in a different ball game altogether.

The Pilot power will go over 100 full heat cycles easily and still have life. Teh Sc's or PR's will be dead far before then.

Though, if you have the chance you should really try the new Metzeler M3 out. Those things are awesome and from my experience, turn in on the M3 is that much sharper for me.

For street tires, those two defienitely get two thumbs up from me, for life and grip. Most important thing in a SS street tire!

That being said, on the racetrack....

Power Race's for me. I just love the way they feel. The AM600 spec tire in the RACE series is the SC. Despite what people say, I can definteley tell the difference in FEEL, not grip.

Something about that 24lb rear tire pressure. hahahaha.

Michelin was showing the Pilot Power 2CT on the Canada website. Anyone heard anything on the street?

These tires are awesome!! Long tread life, great in the rain and work well on the track:thumbup Its the tire I recomend if you ride mainly on the street and do the ocasional track day. These things will wheelie in the rain!

I talked to a few of the Michelin Distrubutors a month or so ago. They informed me that they would not be released in Canada till next year, despite what Michelin says....

Confused me and caused problems as many customers saw all the rave about CT's on the website and were miffed as to why they couldn't buy them.

Take that for what it's worth, that was my experience with them.

Not to be a dick, but that may not be indicative of anything....I've tracked in the rain on those tires, and in a rain condition, i couldn't come close to reaching 160kph mid corner. ?????

160kph on a slight turn on the highway is easily possible, but that isn't really cornering.

I just don't want someone going out in the rain and trying to "corner" at 160 is all.

I'm loving the standard PP, and who knows what'll shake out by the time they're shagged.

Ok, true. It was on the highway, but I was leaning a fair bit. It was that corner coming into Burnaby on Hwy 1 where the Grandview Hwy onramp is. I was suprised, felt completely stable. These tires instill a ton of confidence.

I don't know the curve...but you're right!!!

Those tires are great and worth every penny. :D

Cheers.

I'm not sure on the miles but they have about 3500kms in that picture and that includes about 250kms on the track. As you can see theres alot left on 'em. The Dunlop D208's that came on the bike were well over due at 5000kms!

I also just recently got a set of Powers and yeah they're fuckin awesome. I never really trusted my last tires, but now that I have these I'm much more confident blasting into a corner. I read an article on the new Conti attack radials and it said they are on par with the powers, they use a soft rubber they call "black chili" and apparently they kick ass, but until I hear more reviews I'm gonna 'stick' with the powers.

Samps - DId you get the 70 series front tire? If so, you may want to raise rear or drop front to compensate for the 65 series stock tire. I raised the rear when I changed to 70 series, and made a huge difference, gave way more front end feel.

190 power race medium on the rear set to 28 psi.

4000 kms and it barely looks ridden.

Tito, I did get a 70 front. I read a lot about people with 636's raising the rear or raising the triple tree to compensate for the stock 65 front. I've been riding as is, and so far so good. With the 70 it already feels better from the front.

I will have to ride it more and then try it with the rear raised (actually I'd like to raise the triple trees, I can flatfoot now, but raising the rear will make it more difficult).

I payed $350+tax for my R6 from Bill @ 5th Gear. Thats about as cheap as you'll find 'em here in BC.

When I bought my new Gixx they could not find the original se as it was a demo...so the Mech put on a set of PP, and I was like "are they any good" thinking he would but a cheap set on to save some bucks.....man was I wrong.

They will give you more confidence in a turn...so sticky icky.

I've only had them on for a day, but even now, even be4fore scrubbing them, they seem super sticky. corners just seem smoother somehow...maybe it's all in my mind, but I'm very happy with them (Pilot Powers). Thanks Bill!
