I had a buddy move up to Campbell River recently so I thought this would be a good time to visit him. While I was there I rode the New/Old Island Highway and the Gold River Highway. All I can say is AMAZING!!!

95% of the roads are perfect and very little gravel. On the new Island Highway I was able to just fly along from Nanaimo to Campbell River. Very little traffic and alot curvier than the highway #1 on the mainland. It was so hard to keep my speed down. It just kept creeping back up to 200kmh. Thankfully no cops were out that night. The next day I did the Gold River highway and all I could compare it to were tracks I drove on in video games. Every type of curve was on this highway with a great straightway for a break. I stopped and took lots of pictures (as always). I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking of riding this highway. It will be the highlight of your riding season. Enjoy the pics!

I had to get up at the crack of dawn to meet up with Thor's sunshine coast ride. Well worth it too. The ride along the old island highway was great.

I completely agree, Lee. Absolutely amazing road. I, too, had trouble keeping the speed down. :D
