Looking for 4-8 riders interested in riding as far as we can for Sunday. Meeting point will be the 232nd St. Chevron.
The general route will be highway 7, then hwy 1, to 97. Lunch in Cache Creek or Kamloops. We will then come all the way down the 5A to princeton (dinner?) and back home via the 3. There are lots of jump off points for a shorter ride which will be handy if we get held up or are just plain tired!
This will be a 12 hour+ day so have some water on hand. Granola bars or trail mix is a good idea too.
Experienced riders are encouraged :rider

what's your pace going to be like Lee? moderate to fast? +20 to +60?
or more picture taking slow?

Jess, I am balancing Ania's work schedule with my riding which means I have to keep the ride on Sunday :(
Cory, Given the distance it is not really a stop and enjoy kinda ride. It highly depends on well we move in the morning. Once we reach kamloops we can guage how long it will take to get home. It would be nice to have a stop at the secret blue lagoon which is not so blue right now... Bring the camera because you never know. The pace will be spirited in the corners and relaxed in the straights.
Kamui... You know you wannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnna. strap a pillow to your seat!

The group I ride with did the exact same route 5 weeks ago ,
We left Maple Ridge at 6:30 am and I got home at 7:30 PM ,
just under 900 Kms , We stopped in Merritt for eat's and took short breaks at Gas stations , We rode at a fairly Quick pace , It's a great ride , You will have a good nights sleep after it ,
Would not want to go to work the next day after doing this ride,
Have fun :rider

Actually Chris, we do pretty much 700ks+ every time we head out on a ride. Little time for BS :lurking and plenty of fun riding.
Lee, depending on who and how many.....I might be in for that one. I love this ride and my riding buddies are not available on Sunday. So that would be a good one for me. But forgiiiiiiiive me for not liking BIG GROUPS!!! Yes I'm "antisocial".....so what??!!!

It won't be a big group. I predict eight riders MAX. The distance we will do in a day are the entire season for some riders.
We will have groups of four riders and riding at your own pace is encouraged. This should keep things moving.

It's from the Manning Park part of the route But then I could be wrong , There have been quite a few long rides this season, It was a long ride but well worth it , the road between Kamloops and Merritt is a nice ride lot's of sweepers :rider

that is a really long and very tiring day!, i did the same thing w/ a diff group, same day as Chris & Lola, man was i beat! had to work next day at 10am.. was not a happy camper.. its fun but really wears you down, the 5a tween kamloops & meritt is great sweepers, but really bumpy so you cant really give'r as much as you'd like! the straights you do get to keep pretty damn good pace though...
have fun! i wont be doing this ride again, unless i'm on a couch...
yah, like thats gonna happen!! if things go well, just ask me again in a couple weeks.. hehe!!:rider

Hmmm Im also very tempted on this ride.... Ive done 460 kms in a day ..that was OK....800km hmmmm
I have to get up at 500 am next day... 12 hr work day... doing coin tosses Lee
no chance of a shorter ride??? on some great roads to kelowna on hwy 3 through princeton and penticton is great then we can take the 5a from peachland back
just a suggestion... it's your ride... but ouch, I feel pain in my future and I'm on a comfy bike

Hey Lee what's your ETA for Cache Creek? I'm guestimating 12:00 - 12:30 p.m. based on your departure time/location. But it's your ride, your group, your pace.
The Dudette and I will very likely be at the Cache Creek Chevron on that main strip I think it's in the north end of town (?), between 12:00 - 12:30 p.m. Do you want to meet there? We'll lunch with you guys after, and join you for the rest of the day back into town.
If outside the 30 minute window, then no go - ?
What do you think?

What is it with you guys??? It's not that bad at all. We've been riding almost as much every single weekend (and I mean on one of the two days of the weekend) since the season started....
It's a long day but under good conditions......it's A perfect day!!! Anyway that's what I call a ride. I must be a real "iron butt"......

It's amazing how our bodies develop muscles for these type of things. Earlier this year I did 1000kms on my Honda F4i. I am 6'2" 210 pounds. I was happy to get off the bike but I was still smiling!
Flyinfishwoman, when it's closer to the date I will PM you my cell phone number and we can play "text message your location" until we arrive.
Steve, I think we may just take the #1 right to hope in the morning just to get things going. A 1230pm Arrival time sounds about right. Know a good place for lunch? Let's play the text message game too!
To all you weather nay sayers! STFU! :laughing You know how much the weather changes around here. We will worry about it EARLY Sunday morning.

OK Jamie, that's it you're grounded for trying to rain on our parade. No more economic forecasts for you for the remainder of the fiscal year. Now go to your room.

Yeah but your a Masochist Lee... I'm thinking about the runs you used to do on that 400 of yours...unreal !!!
Have to do some tire scrubbing before Sunday !!!
I thinks I will break out the VFR for this one I am a go for Sunday!
And to any one who is worried about the kms... dont be! Just remember to eat well and drink lots of H20...later in the day try not to just follow the leader and fall asleep! Last summer a few of us did 600 kms/day for 16 straight days.
edit....I am going to try to catch up in Cache Creek see you there!

Lee:
There's a PetroCan roadside diner that makes cowflop-sized pancakes. I haven't had them but I once watched CountrySlicker attack a pile of them, and he didn't get too far. Really basic menu and cafeteria-like settings, but the food stays down.
I don't really know where to eat in Cache Creek, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find something. If we're there earlier we'll scout the place for booby traps and report back when you get to the Chevron.
Lee, please PM me your cell number, and I'll reply with mine. My phone doesn't take messages though.
So 12:00 - 12:30 it is. If either of us is too far outside the 30 minute window we may have to let the ships pass.
Looking forward to it.

Hey there Greenboy,
Those pacakes were massive and hard to eat. Tread carefully there. What time are you guys thinking of running thru Princeton? I am in Grand Forks for the weekend and will be cruising thru Princeton at some time on Sunday. I could coordinate with you all and ride back into Vancouver with y'all.

Let's keep an eye on things for now and try for 1200pm ride if things clear up. We may be able to do the Hope/Princeton hwy and possibly the 5a to Merritt if the weather clears.

great, back to starbucks. just as i thought i was out ....
There's always room for another forlorn weather-damned motorcyclist at starbucks. Up here, we have the "Chartreuse Moose" coffee house, the best in town (well, actually the only "real" coffee in town, "timmies" doesn't count, haha), where they serve up wonderful brew and great home-baked goodies and fresh-made food.
Anytime you are heading this way, give me a PM, I'll show you some nice scenic local roads.
It's raining here right now, and not very warm, only around 7 degrees. In fact, I'm having to break out the rain jacket and sweater to take the dog out! Maybe next week we can do this outing?
