Last weekend Savannah and I took a quick spin down to Yakima Canyon via hwy 20 to look at a potential dog breeder for a chocolate lab.

FYI guys, this is the secret to a successful relationship: Hours spent together NOT talking... I get to ride, we both get to look at dogs, and she gets to shop! lol The best of everything!

So we took Heisenberg's advice and took the lower road "Sauk valley road" which was a nice ride with a couple good corners, I guess I was still spoiled from the Cali trip

Here's are the links for the trip:

Mt. Rainier pass.

Synopsis: HWY 20 is a good ride if you REALLY like to speed, unfortunately I have slowed down painfully in the straights so HWY 20 and 97 were quite boring for me. There were a couple nice corners on the other roads we took so that was fun. The scenery was second to none, even comparing the California trip, although there were a couple places that did remind me of B.C. which is always comforting. Leaving Yakima, 410 was a fun road to ride with moderate traffic and great views, but Mt. Rainier was a drag, not only was it bloody cold, there were police, RV's and newbie motorbike riders everywhere. But after a short stint in Seattle for Savannah shopping, we rode home along HWY 9, which on a Sunday evening is always a great ride and really topped off the trip for me.

The ride was one of Savannah's favorites, the sedate pace, the nice scenery and the combination of a hotel room and Chocolate labs might have been the contributing factors. lol

Anyways, HWY 20 is a great ride if you have a radar detector, but HWY 9 was still the favorite slab of pavement for me. :D

Scotty it looks like you didn't get my last post in the thread before you left on your trip. I made a fairly serious mistake in drawing out that map in Google maps for you. Not sure how far you went down the road but the first third of your ride, if you followed the original map would not have been on South Skagit Hwy. The map did join up part way through that area.

Here's the thread again. (http://www.bcsportbikes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90822&highlight=skagit) See the last post. Sorry bout that.

I agree with you about Hwy 9, that sure is nice and picturesque, and there's a great little pub/eatery along the way with an awesome view of the "sisters" mountains from the back deck area.

That road along Yakima River (Canyon Road,Hwy 821) was one of my favorites in that area, and was a very nice change from the slab. Ellensburg is an interesting hub, tons of interstate traffic.

Did the Lower Skagit (aka Sauk Valley Road) and the Cascades on the KLR on Thursday and still enjoyed it at a slower pace. No cops to be seen on the Yakima Valley Rd. Best time to do the Valley Rd (821) is early morning or at dusk when the rising or setting suns brings out the colours in the valley. Truly spectacular.

Agreed, I did this road at dusk-ish, and it was one of my faves during my Mt.St.Helen's run.

In every pic all you have is a tank bag, where do carry all your stuff, especially after Savannah has finished shopping in Seattle?

Items:
- 2 pairs of sandals
- 2 swimsuits
- 1 bottle of water
- 1 camera
- 1 towel
- 1 pair shorts
- 1 t-shirt

this all fits in the tankbag when it's collapsed so she can usually get away with buying a couple shirts and a sweater or jeans etc.
