What a great Day for a Ride , We were going to ride South but the long line up at the Boarder turned us off , so we headed to SpencesBridge / Meritt , The roads are in good shape , some road repair just east of Lytton , the twistie road between Spencesbridge and Merrit was fun as alway's , There was your typical spring rocks / gravell here and there also there was a good amount of sand in one spot :evilgrin Still a good early Spring ride .
Here are a few Pictures :devillook

Can't believe it took this long for the first ride of the season, but incredible day all the same. Few observations:
- slightly chilly in the a.m., but by 11:00 a.m. good temps
- Spences Bridge to Merritt is in good shape except for a few errant rocks and a micro-slide with dirt/debris covering a 6' length of the westbound lane at about 10 km from Spences Bridge
- one police officer out between Spences Bridge and Merritt, but we don't speed so it wasn't an issue
- we skipped Manning Park which is usually bone-chilling at this time of the year anyway
- the Canyon was basically empty.
Thanks Machinist, waterman, Traveler for the ride.
Rider #5 chime in, or PM one of us so we know all is good. We got your message/signal about turning around so no reconnaissance team sent for you. But let us know anyway.

Hey fokkers, where was my invite..... :evilgrin . LOL
Glad you had a good one. :coffee
I went up and over the Duffy today, but a late start, 11:00 and came back the canyon ...
Duffy's it's normal self, bit sandy on the Pemberton side, pretty good on the Lillooet side, just a 50 foot section of gravel where they're repairing that 2 meter frost heave that was there last year....
Didn't see any sporty bikes, but a few Harleys, one Vstorm and 2 Transalps.....

You are right about Manning. I took a ride up to Princeton and back today. Much of the roadway in Manning had snowbanks 6 feet and more high! The icy air cuts right through to the bone. On the way back I came around a corner and spotted a buck on the right side of the road. Before I could say 'Oh, fu....", I was already past him! That was as close of encounter as any I have ever had.

Don, someone else (?) told me recently the gravel stretch was 200' long so I guess it's improving. Nothing a VStrom can't ride over anyway.
Today, Traveler was showing us what he learned at Freddie Spencer's school in Las Vegas a little while back where they only gave him half a 1200S to ride. :evilgrin

We usually stay out of there until May. Too many memories of being stopped by the side of the road, with everyone's hands on whoever's bike has a titanium or carbon slip-on (don't try this on stainless steel unless you like giving yourself roadside skin-grafts).
Today we rode the canyon to Merritt, then did a 180 and returned the same way. Manning in April = Bad.

Serious question: Where do day trip photos and such go - General Sportbike Chat..., I'm Going for a Ride ...?
Are all Ride Reports supposed to be of longer trips?
____
EDIT: Never mind. I see you moved it from another forum. Just your comment about "It's not that much of a report" made me think there were strict rules and regulations as to the precise amount of information and qualitative aspects necessary for making a simple Ride Report.

Great ride today, guys!

Hell I don't know. I think this could go in either general chat or into Ride Reports. *shrug*
I think it's turned into more of a (dysfunctional) ride report as stuffs been added :D

I went from Maple Ridge up to Vernon via Manning at the start of March, and if you can ignore the freezing temperatures, snow, and shite on the road it's ok ;) I was just desperate to get my bike up here and get riding on nice days.

Steve: We did a shakedown / scouting run through the Ft. Langley backroads and Mission twisties. I run an annual ride for the work folks and need to time the route for this year and check the conditions.
I even left the house at 9:30 am :D
