At work we've got street parking outside, with a few driveways/side streets here and there. I always purposely park my bike perpendicularly to the street, and close to these driveways and side streets. The idea being that I shouldn't take up a parking spot big enough for a car in an area with already limited parking. Been parking like this for about a month, and one local driver actually thanked me for parking this way. It seems that the city of Vancouver has a slightly different way of showing appreciation: in the form of a $45 fine for parking too close to a driveway.
I do a nice thing and I get screwed in the ass for it. Thanks. Fuck this. No more Mr.Nice-parking guy.
