Took a solo ride up Mt Baker today, and it was probably one of the more challenging rides I've done. Damn cold, very foggy (down to 20 metre visibility in places), some sandy corners, drizzle, a few rocks and a bear on the road. Fortunately almost no traffic, so the lower parts were fun.
I passed a gaggle of sportbikes heading up when I was coming down, and they looked to be setting a sedate pace, which is what was required today. Without my heated vest, I would have turned around lower down, and I definitely should have had my winter gloves.
Just a heads up to those planning to head up there. It's still winter on Baker!
