Sorry, just have to rant a bit here.
Was riding today going North on Lonsdale to get to highway 1, on the right lane doing about 45-50 km/h. As I was getting close to an intersection (Lonsdale and 19th) I slowed down to about 35-40 km/h as I noticed that there was a truck turning left nearby me which could be potentially blocking the view of any potential left turners coming south.
As I slow down and start to proceed to the intersection I see this Ford Explorer cut right in front of me (southbound turning left) - I immediately start braking the bike but it was too late, bike's front tire hit the Explorer's front tire and bike fell on its side, on top of my leg. @#$@#%$%@#
I immediately start yelling at the driver "are you F#$#% blind?!".
Anyways, I pull the bike up, not 1 scratch (phew!) and we clear the intersection and park on the side of the road to exchange information.
I was quite happy that a LOT of people that saw it came forward and gave me ther info as witnesses, that was really nice and unexpected.
Bike's tire apparently took the brunt of the impact and my leg kept the bike from scratching against the road. Leg was fine until about 30-40 minutes after the accident when I started to feel the pain, it's mostly bruised up, no bone or muscle damage. (I think, we'll see how it is tomorrow)
Cops, ambulance and firefighters came (someone called the cops) - amazing how fast they showed up, I'm happy to live in such a country.
Anyways, just venting a bit, I hate people that blindingly drive on the road..... and I'm thankful that my first bike accident was not at all serious, not even damage to the bike.
Another thing, something made me take out the Honda Shadow today for a ride instead of the R6 - I'm glad I did, because the R6 would've been busted.
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE GUYS.
