I was on my way home from a nice sunday ride coming to a stop at a traffic light when ***BAM!*** a dude on an 05 Gixxer 1000 runs into me from the back. I turn around and there is a 250lb guy wearing running shoes and a UFC hoodie with a look of disbelief on his face.
Luckily no harm done, and my Kat has just a slightly squashed rear muffler. Dude who ran into me is apologetic but more worried about what his bigger brother (350 lbs ?) will do to him. His Gixxer has a smashed up right side fairing. We exchange details and he asks me if he can fix it without involving insurance. I tell him that I am perfectly happy for him to do that as long as he fixes my muffler. They have been unobtainium for about 10 years now (1983 suzuki 1100 Katana) and I am not sure how this will be repaired but we shall see. If this bike was a beater then I would not care so much, but it is 100% original and in really good shape.
All in all it was a very lucky day, if that guy (first time he has borrowed his brothers bike - but thankfully has a bike licence) was going faster it could have been waaaaaay worse for everyone concerned.
