    I Need a Hugger

Alright, alot of you have them, some of them you love 'em, some wish you had bought somethings else. So, I looking for your advice on rear huggers:

    Carbon or plastic?
Screwed to Swing Arm or Not?
    Who has the best designs?
Best place to order them online?

    Appreciate it folks............

I'll give you a hug, Frank.

I think huggers look really cool. If I were you, I'd go with carbon fibre and see if you can find one that screws to the swing arm. One of those hugger/chain guard combo thingys.
    Cheers.

I haven't had a hugger yet but the guys over on zx-12r.org like the Hans and Safetech huggers the most for quality of the carbon weave and overall polish if you go for carbon. They had good things to say about FSMD as well.

There's some pictures and discussion in here under 'bodywork':

As far as design is concerned, some of them have integrated chain guards which you may or may not like, but another nice feature some have is that the hugger follows the wheel a bit below the swingarm which looks like it offers more protection to the rear shock area from splatter and gunk

If you find a good deal let me know as I might want one for my 9r

mostly cosmetic, although they can protect your undertail if you have one. It's kind of like a mud guard on a car

Not just your undertail, but your rear shock too.

It's hard to find good help isn't it...

I'd avoiid the "drill the swingarm" ones. Don't like drilling something that important. Well. perhaps if it was just for pop rivets. But nothing larger for me.
A backyard mechanic without a service manual is just like a hooker without a lamp pole.... they are both in the dark.
