OK. So I read the sticky on group ride tips but it doesn't have my answer.
I've been on two group rides recently where i've basically been left at the meeting point.
One of my friends says that's normal, if someone posts to 'squamish' then once you get there everyone's on their own.
Is this the unwritten rule? Once you get to the destination it's everyone for themselves?
Because i think it's kind of rude for people to just take off without even saying anything, or giving any indication.
Is it so hard to walk a few extra steps to the starbucks and say 'hey we're gonna take off first' instead of having me walk to the bikes and find mine's the only one left there? If you think i'm too slow then don't post a 'newbie friendly' disclaimer on your ride.
Especially since the point of going on a group ride, for me anyway, is one, to meet people, and two, to learn new routes, i wouldn't know my way back myself!!!
I understand we're all adults and we all take care of ourselves, but i just don't think it's very group friendly.
Luckily, so far i've always taken one trusted friend along with me, but then this kind of makes the point of joining new groups to meet people kind of a moot point, isn't it? It also makes it so i feel i can't really join a random group ride by myself because i might just get left out in the boonies.
