Heard the rumor mill a while ago, looks like the trigger's been pulled....HD is hog wild for Europe....interesting move. This, coupled with the intro of the new "Europe only" XR1200 is probably going to have some of those overly patriotic yanks in a tizzy....
Hmmm....MV's with handle bar tassels.

Before I just couldn't afford one. Now I don't want one.
If you wanna say something, speak into the mic. It's right above my balls.
Wasn't there some ramble earlier in the year about Harley Davidson buying Ducati?
Bart: What's Santa's Little Helper doing to that dog? Looks like he's trying to jump over, but he can't quite make it.
HD has lots of money, which is good for MV Augusta. Look at Lamborghini since VW bought them; their cars have been better ever since. Jaguar's quality and reliability also greatly increased after their purchase by Ford. If HD plays their cards right it could be good for all of us.
I think this is great. Maybe they'll sell them here then!
HD's marketing might could help out MV Agusta and bring the bike into more people's hands through their huge distribution network and brining awareness to the bike but making the bike better?!
This must be in retaliation for the whole purchasing of Budweiser thing...
Heisenberg - are you saying that Ford didn't solve the decades long electrical problems that plagues Jaguar? They did. With the help of Ford's capital new engines were developed to replace the decades old in-line 6.
HD had huge problems when they were owned by AMF, but I think the problems have, in the last decade been fixed. If you have other data showing that new HD motorcycles have more quality problems than other brands, then please post it.
And you cannot be serious about Lamborghini not improving since VW's takeover. Look at the pre and post VW line-up. How many models does Lamborghini have now? There's the Murcielago LP640, the Murcielago LP640 Roadster, Gallardo LP560-4, Gallardo Superleggera and Gallardo Spyder. What did they have before, the Diablo? Look at the pre and post VW sales numbers. Has Lamborghini ever even had two different engines for production cars in production at once before?
Yes, they can make the bike better. Will they? That's hard to say. I am sure that MV Augusta , like any company, could benefit from large capital investments that they would otherwise not be able to afford. IF HD does it right we should see a wider variety of competative MV Augustas available at competative prices.
All that doesn't mean that they CAN"T screw it up, they may very well bugger the whole thing to hell. But it is not IMO an automatic disaster that they bought MV. Time will tell I guess.
