Myself and my girl just got back from an evening walk along David Ave in PoCo.
A heard a couple bikes coming up behind us. The first bike passed then I heard the second bike behind us abruptly hit the rev limiter, followed by about 2-3 seconds of silence, then a crash and a shower of parts and plastic and the Black CBR 600 RR fly past us mid air.
We turned around and saw the rider jump up from the middle of the street and ran up to his bike, just past where we were standing.
I asked if he was okay, he said yes. He seemed okay but was probably very shaken. I helped him pick up the bike and pull it off the road, pointed out his registration papers in the middle of the road. He grabbed the papers then pushed his bike away up the street and around the corner and off down the block, kind of took of, maybe to his destination?
Im glad the rider is okay, and that sucks about the bike.
But that bike came pretty fucking close to hitting us. We had to run a bit to avoid getting hit by any flying plastic. If the bike landed differently or launched at a slightly different angle it would have hit us.
I cant say for sure if the rider was trying to pull a wheelie, burnout or whatever, maybe he just slipped, I cant say.
Point is, if you are going to stunt, or try to stunt, try to be aware of any people in the area. Make sure no one has their backs to you, or are walking on the side of the road right where you try to pull it off. Wrecking your bike sucks, but if you hit someone with your bike that will suck a whole lot more.
Be safe people, watch for pedestrians!
