to make it look like a scale model, I simply use photoshop to blur the background I used D40 18-55mm. a tripod, and lighting with my g35

As for the tilt-shift photograph you've got going on (like in your first picture), your style of blurring everything except for the subject really works pretty well. Although if you do it like such you dont get the awkward outline around the bike, supposedly, but i've not had much success with this method. (you could always just feature the selection around the bike before blurring)

Nice shots man. I've used that 'blur' technique before as well, it really makes the subject stand out.
