i got a small 125 for my beginner bike. its been 4 months now and have almost 8500 km's on it. Just wondering. I warm it up for 5 minutes then feel the transmission, that way i know the oil is all warm. then take it easy for 4 or km's till i know for sure its hot enough. I run between 4500 and 7000. 7000 is a good shift point. enything below that, it just feels like shit when i change gears. its a harder click when i upshift. at 7000, it feels really smooth.
but after i know its warm. i then usually like to take it up to 9500 rpm once in awhile to get going on it. i dont cruise at that. but it feels like the power is between 7500-9500 rpm.
does that hurt the engine?? the guys at honda all say these bikes like to have the shit revved out of them. and they say Honda engines are good because they are meant to do that and their engines dont break down when you do it.
does it do any excessive wear on anything?
also it it redlines at 11,000 rpm. but i never go past 10,000
