Yes I know there is a similar post below but I wanted to say something and have it stand out from that thread... it is really bothering since I travel into the USA often to shop.
I always find the US border guards friendly and funny, yes I have run into some tight asses. On the whole the US guards are much better then the Canadian Flashlight Border Guards.
I always get this... breeze by US Border, then on my way home run into lesbian Canadian Border Guard with attitude or Women (I need to prove I can handle this job) Guard or Mr (I couldn't make a cop so I settled for this) Guard or Non-Canadian (I sneaked my family into Canada, but now I am checking your papers) Guard or Mr Canadian white boy (ex military nerd that got picked on in high school and now wants to prove his authority) Guard
Why the attitide on the way back to Canada ? Why do our border guards act like robots instead of human beings ? I find it funny, like I am law abiding tax payer that is paying thier wages... what are they going to do ? refuse me from entering my own country ? Some of my friends treat these people like they are gods, they are just 20 somethings or younger that are doing a job like the rest of us. I don't suck up to these people, I have every right to go shop in the states or fill my tank up and come back in 10 minutes. I do not act like a dick, I act like a normal human being coming back from a shopping trip. Why the 20 questions sometimes ? just pull me in and search me ! I have nothing to hide !
I ripped into this one guard, she was so disrespectful to me. I told her you are a civil servant... you work for me and you would not have a job if people like me didn't travel across the border. I took her badge number and reported her to CBSA.
yes, I understand they have a tough job to do at times but they do not have to act like pricks while doing it. The majority of US Border guards do not act like that and they really should be the ones worrying. And for god sakes, nobody is going to respect a border guard without a side arm. Maybe they might run away again and leave our borders abandoned
