I installed a new chain on my bike a couple of months ago. I dropped one tooth off the front sprocket while I was at it. Yesterday I cleaned and tightened the chain, only to find a huge tight spot; it's so bad the chain can go from almost taught to extremely loose.
I gather that I won't be able to replace a section of this chain. and will have to replace the whole thing sometimes in the near future. Before I do, I am looking for feedback on how this could have happened?
The chain has maybe 1000KM on it. When I bought the bike, the chain also had a massive tightspot which is what caused me to change it out in the first place. It was so bad that the bike wouldn't run smooth at constant RPM, you could hear/feel the slight surges. Now, brand new chain and sprockets, and same thing is happening.
What could cause this to happen so quickly?
PS. I also noticed a slight clicking coming from the chain when I was moving my bike
