I have come to the point of having to purchase new rubber. My question is not about brands or compounds etc...but of the notion of one having to buy BOTH the front and rear at the same time.
My front tire has tons of tread depth left where as the rear is shot. I was thinking I could just replace the rear as long as its the same type of tire. I've heard that this isn't really a good idea but I haven't yet heard a convincing argument which would make me want to spend another 150 smacks.
Is it a balancing issue? If so could the front just be rebalanced for wear? Is it a rubber lifespan thing? Does the rubber go bad from weathering? etc etc.
Which one of you can enlighten me regarding this.
Thanks in advance.
