    I Died Today

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery
    store line.
But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the
    collection plate last
    Sunday.

I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other
    on the
    sidewalk.
But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local
    mall.

I saw you, change your mind about going into the
    restaurant.
But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise
    more money for the
    hurricane relief.

I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I
    rode by.
But, you didn't see me, riding behind you when you
    flicked your
cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children.
But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work
    to run toys to
    the homeless.

I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves.
But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old
    ones to those
    that had none.

I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos.
But, you didn't see me, cry as my children were born
    and have their name
written over and in my heart.

I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go some where.
But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my
    family.

I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.
But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD
    and drifted into
    my lane.

I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car.
But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands,
    knowing he was safe behind
    me.

I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.
But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when
    she told me to take
    the next turn.

I saw you, race down the road in the rain.
But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my
    son could have the
car to go on his date.

I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.
But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.

I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.
But, you didn't see me, leave the road.

I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.
But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you, go home to your family.
    But, you didn't see me,
because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family.
    But, you didn't see me.
When it hits, it hits hard.

Inbetween bikes now. Thanks for bringing up bad feelings.
Wow. I like this poem but how many times has it be reposted now?

I have seen this many more places than here, and everytime i get teary eyed, so i'm a sap, but so are other people, and if posting it again means that it gets posted somewhere else, and one person who doesn't ride reads it and gets teary eyed, and maybe pays a little more attention to bikes when there on the road, then as many times as possible.

Repost, and a lame one at that.

Who the hell is going to read it other than riders, given that its just posted on bike forums?

I love all the "negative stigmas" everyone on two wheels bitches about all the time. Maybe its because I don't have the "badass" look with nasty hair and ink from my neck to my fingernails, but I never get dirty looks from the public. Any attitude I get from drivers is usually deserved, as I (and most of you) happen to be riding outside of the law at the time, known or not.

I'm just here for the intelligent conversation.
Once again, Klutch says what most of us are thinking.

Look, I can make gross generalizations too!
"You didn't see me, installing flushmounts and taking reflectors off my bike to make me less visible to motorists,
But I saw you, merge into my lane while I was doing 3 times the posted limit"

Allow me to play Devils Advocate because I can!

As someone who has never sped or done anything illegal, this poem sings to my heart. Both Klutch and J_Scott should be ashamed of themselves, this poor man bleeding his heart out on paper and you rip it apart! You don't know if he does the speed limit, just because you two are hooligans doesn't mean everyone is!!!

Buahahaha nah I'm just joking, minus the part about Klutch sucking balls.

    I love it.

I rode to work this morning. Cars at EVERY (literally) single intersection turning left ignors me. That really piss me off.

You stole my heart. That constitutes theft.

I saw you, your muscular physique, glistening in the bathroom mirror as you left the shower...
You didn't see me, in the shadows outside your window with my GoPro camera recording silently...

I saw you, in the corner of my eye, my biceps and ass glistening in the mirror as I left the shower...
You thought I didn't see you, recording my every move from the shadows outside my window. I purposely dropped my toothbrush to bend over... Nice camera...

Such a sucky poem, it makes me want to give up riding.
If I wanted to cry and feel emotion every time I indulged in my hobby, I'd take up doing needlepoints of abused children.
