So went to Boise this weekend and had a few interesting experiences.
Deer - they are now officially everywhere. I saw a dead one on I-5 just before the express lanes northbound, and then three mpore live ones (pity) at Bellis Fair Mall
Slippery When Wet and Greasy
Southbound on I-5 near Tacoma. Construction Zone all gone home it is about 10:30 pm. I need to visit the rest area which is in the construction zone.
It is raining.
I pull in and as i start to slow on the ramp the bike goes into a huge shimmy shake slide. Grease or diesel on the wet road in the rest area, we are talking a lot of it. Where does it come from ? Easy answer they are storing the highway construction stuff in there off the Freeway.
Lesson be extra careful in construction zones if there i is a rest area and you need to pull off.
Tires (other Cars' and Trailers)
Sunday riding home
I see brake lights ahead I a tire carcass from a car trailer flies across the traffic and zings by my helmet.
Tire Two. I can smell the tire deflating blowing smell again (it is still fresh in my mind) Everyone ahead locks them up as I am emergency braking the car ahead throws up a tire that has been hit by a lot of traffic ahead of me. I am about 3 car lengths behind in left lane (too close I know, I know). All I see is brake light and suddenly a tire tread flies out at me. I run over it at 50 mph. No time to do anything .
On I-5 I smell that tire smell again - the smell of a tire heating up/breaking up.
I look around and see a balled up tire rolling like a giant donut toward me across traffic I swerve and avoid it. It hits the car behind me dead on and they pull off highway at next exit.
3 tires in one day is a new record for me, there is a lot of stuff trying to kill us out on the road
