So I replaced the stock rotors on my 02 ZX-6r a a couple of days ago with some EBC SD countour ones. Much lighter
I also had the pads replaced with DPs (not sure which variant).
Anyways, I went for a brief ride to get them bedded in and found that they made a light shudder and and slight scream at lower speed braking. In the dark I could see big clouds of brake dust waft through my headlight beam in the darkness. Lots of brake rubbing noise too when walking the bike.
I checked the rotors and found a couple of what looked like rings which I'm hoping aren't going to become grooves since I'd hate to wreck brand new rotors. I also noticed a couple small cuts, enough to catch skin as I slid my finger over them. Definitely weren't there before they were mounted.
I pulled the calipers off and checked the brake pads. They looked really rough and I noticed some chunks broken off the front but there was no gravel or sand or any other foreign material embedded in them.
The guys at burnaby kawasaki just did a full service and say that they checked and cleaned the calipers/pisons, etc so I'm wondering if this is normal????
I've never replaced BOTH pads and rotors so I'm not sure if its the new rotors that are wrecking the pad so fast. I was expecting the pad to be smoother more like the pads I checked out on my other bikes.
