FUCKING FUCKITY FUCKING FUCK FUCK!
Sorry for the length of this post but I had to get it out of my system.
Last Friday, October 3rd I was informed by a co-worker that the 6GB data plans were no longer available in retail stores and would only be available through corporate sales until October 6th. That and we had a corporate discount.
Having been on the fence (for a while now) about taking the plunge and becoming an iWhore I took the bait.
I called into the CSR line and was transferred to corporate sales. The guy ran me through all of the available packages and I settled on the following:
- $17.50/mo 250 anytime minutes and free evenings & weekends starting @ 6pm (corporate rate?)
- $30.00/mo 6GB Data.
- $15.00/mo visual voicemail, x# of texts & message center.
- $6.95/mo System access fee.
- $75-80/mo all in.
I was told that the 8GB iPhones were on back order which was fine as I wanted a white 16GB. He checked the system and said it was in stock and I would see it by next Friday (today). I thanked him for his time and took down the account # and his employee #.
Fast forward to yesterday and where I impatiently inquired about the status of my phone and when I could expect it. 1st CSR says let me check and puts me on hold for 15min... Comes back and says they are on backorder and his doesn't know when it will be shipped... Ummm ok why didn’t the CSR last week tell me that - dead air -... He apologises and says he'll transfer me to a CSRS(pecialist)... 45min later a voice comes on the line! WOOHOO! So after supply her with ALL off my account information (again, I thought I was transferred into priority sequence... why don't you know this already?). She spews out the same drivel about how they are backorder and the 1st CSR should never have told me it was shipping that day blah blah blah...
She then proceeds to tell me I can do my own leg work and call retail outlets and see if there is one in stock somewhere and then refuse the one that is coming via UPS. So I thank her for her time, not forgetting to voice my current state of 'irk' after wasting an hour on the phone!
Started making some calls and it wasn't as easy to track on down as you'd think. Finally I called the store down in South Point Mall - BINGO!!! They had ONE (1)... HOLD IT FOR ME I'LL BE RIGHT THERE ( just down the street from home). Mind you this was 6:30pm last night so I rushed out of the office and headed towards home. Just squeaked into the store before closing (bus just doesn't cut when you're in a hurry). I can see the look of anguish on the guys face as I walked through the door "YOU BASTARD I WAS JUST ABOUT TO CLOSE AND GO HOME" but he sucked it up and started on the paperwork.
Now I am 'porting' my current # from Bell, which turns out isn't so cut and dried. That and the department that does it closed at 6pm. My fault as I just asked if they had an iPhone and didn't give him any information pertaining to my account. He says to me that he'll get it all set-up for me in the morning and I could swing by after work, AWESOME thanks!
Stop in today after work and they are a few customers ahead of me and I had my son with me as well. After about 20min my 3-1/2yr old has pretty much checked out EVERY phone in the store and is showing signs of increasing boredom! So to keep him occupied we headed out and ran around the sidewalk until his customers were finished.
I get back in there and he had already dialled the switching department and was on hold & waiting. He has all the paperwork ready to go just needs the porting done and I'm on my way! Suddenly I see a serious look of concern wash across his face now that he's talking to someone human on the phone... turns out for some unknown reason they are not willing to honour my account and are denying that any rate plans have been set up, pretty much saying I'm SOL...
Now I know this poor guy in the store is just the messenger but I'm not a happy camper what so ever at this point so I start to let him have it, then contain myself as I don't need my son to see Papa SNAPPING! At the same time I hear this guy start ragging on the CSR on the phone and ask to speak to their manager. Luca is done and hungry, I'm pissed beyond belief and kind of hungry myself so I thank him and asked him to call me with whatever the outcome was...
Home, beer cracked, pizza ordered and my temperature slowly decreasing... phone rings and it's a cell # I don't know... Pick up and it’s the guy from the store. He pretty much tells me flat out that I'm fucked, Rogers’s customer service sucks ass and there was nothing he could do. That and they (Rogers)couldn't guarantee that I would or would not be able to get the plan I originally signed up for. Being they are all retail franchise stores they rate just above the everyday customer when it comes to dealing with Rogers. Again I thank him for his time.
So now I am back to waiting for the phone to show up at work... maybe sometime next week? I don't know if I have a plan, will need to sign up for a plan or have simply bought a supped up iPod Touch!
