Cry in the dojo, laugh on the battlefield
Sparring speed is a matter of simple physics:
The height of your flight is inversely proportionate to the mass of your ass.
Car was delivered into the states in 1980, the tag says it was manufactured in 1984. hmmmmm
But still, Sweet car.

To bad you can't plate it for the street in the good old USA.
Speaking of M1s, a few months ago I was driving on west boulevard going into Kerrisdale when I notice this red low and wide car making a left onto the oncoming lane. At first I thought it would be some old 1970s Ferrari. But as it got closer, I noticed a BMW badge on the hood. Then it passed, I realized it was an M1. I wanted to make a uturn to check it out but damn, traffic was thick. All day I wondered if it was a replica or the real thing....
That's one ugly German car. I'll take the 959 over that anyday...
"It's not my fault your slow!"
Shame they butchered it with the "customisation", and that ungodly interior.
There are 2 real deal, unmolested M1's driving around the GVRD. Both are orange, 1 owned by a friend of mine, who is a bonafide BMW nut(as am I). His is likely the nicest, best maintained, and cleanest one on the planet. The best part is though, he actually drives it! Purchased it a few years ago with 16k km on it, it now reads near 50k km. Been road tripped to California for BMWCCA Oktoberfest, and has had numerous trips all over the province, and the PNW.
The M1 is an incredible car, a bonafide supercar, yet they remain very civil to drive, with decent A/C, good ergonomics, etc. A true BMW.
I think that orange M1 was at the Steamworks show once. The first year if memory seves.
Speaking of BMW supercars, I think BMW should bring back a supercar. Even Honda is doing it with their new NSX.
I remember hearing a rumor about a Z9?
Or... maybe even put the new M1 concept into production?

or just bring back the 8 series.
"Honda = Boring, Suzuki = Wannabes, Yamaha = Poser, Ducati = Overated, BMW = Compensating, Aprilia = Insecure, Buell = BCIT business... go faKOffee." - PUREVIL
i'm a bmw fan through and through and i think the m1 is an ugly and over-rated. was a supercar in its time and while it still would do well vs most cars is by no means a supercar today
the 8.. although not nearly as exclusive, is far more visually appealing
the nsx also did not have enough balls to be called a supercar
The E31(8 series) is not a supercar, and never was. Simply a grand touring coupe, that was semi mass produced.
The E26(M1) was only developed as an engineering excercise, never intended to be mass produced like the "normal" BMW coupes.
