Last week, I was heading out to UBC at a little after 7am. I was driving on a one lane road behind an 'N' that seemed to be on her cell phone. Needless to say she was going pretty slowly. We then got to the section of road refered to as the 'autobahn'. Normal traffic speed on this strech (at 7am) is about 100-110. So when the second lane opened up I did what I always did and procceded to accelerate past the 'N' on her cell phone. Then I hear a little "chirp" and a small red light appeared on my dash. I ponder over this ... for about 2 nanoseconds, and decide that I will not bother to accel past 60kph. Neeedless to say the driver of the car behind me thought this was an unnecessary precaution and voiced his opinion on the matter with a simphony of horns and blinking lights. I politely slowed down a bit and allowed him to pass me. He began to accelerate to what I judged to be about 130, or roughly double my speed.
Things started to happen a bit faster at this point.
The "chirp" was now a klaxon and the red light was now 4 flashing lights. Then to my suprise appeared another set of flashing lights ahead of me from an apparently "parked" car.
What really made me laugh was the sound of dozens of cars hitting thier brakes behind me at the exact moment the cop lit up.
Go buy one. They will pay for themselves within a year!
