I am done riding for the year and my Insurance didn't expire. I will be turning in my license plate next week because I don't have a bike any more.
I took the bike out last Monday morning because of the sun shine and expected dry weather. As I made a left turn onto United Blvd from Marina, I was blinded by the glare and failed to see the red light. i braked and I knew that it was too late. I didn't have any traction because of the damp street. The bike went one way and I went another.
I managed to stay up right and my head never hit the ground. i slided a few feet and I was able to get up without a scratch.
A motorist got out of his car and helped to pick up the bike. At this time, green plastic were every where. I didn't care much. I was shaken up. We pulled the bike to the side and I sat down a few minutes and got my wind back before I rode the bike to work. I immediately noticed that the handlebar was bent. and the bike wasn't riding straight anymore.
To make a longer story short, Icbc called me on Thursday to inform me that the bike had over 5k worth of damage. Aside from the cosmetic damage, I cracked the engine as well.
Now, I just have to pick up my plate and get my insurance refund to me.
I may be looking for a new bike in the new year. Since I already had a sport bike, I may want to look for something different. Still, No Harley for me. May be a Cafe Race type ride.
Have fun with the Extrem Tag, I am out.
