Home remedy for Arc Welding Flash

File this under "you learn something every day."

I learned this little titbit, er, tidbit today from my co-worker, who emigrated here from China seven years ago:

In event of arc welding flash, apply your sister's breast milk directly to the afflicted eye. If breast milk from a sister or blood relative is not available, then a stranger's may be substituted.

    I think your co-worker is f*ckin with you! :P

The best remedy for arc flash is not to get it in the first place

Even regular safety glasses will cut your chances of arc flash by like 99%, just don't stare at an arc!

Dunno, that sounds like something a Nascar fan would suggest.

My grandfather used to cover his eyes with sliced cucumbers, the elders claimed it helped.

Another old wives tale passed on to me from my Dad.
A welder told him flash was more dangerous if you were not looking directly at it. In fact, he thought it was funny to "flash" the unsuspecting.

I've gotten itchy eyes from just passing by someone welding on the side of the road or in a shop. A lot of welders do not give a sh*t.

"sisters breast milk" is really out there. Pamela's breast milk might work for me.

Can she still lactate with all that silicone? I presume we're talking about Pam Anderson here...

I can vouch for amazing power of breast milk. Not sure about the welding flash, but for eye infections it works wonders.
    It's a natural,safe antibiotic.

p.s. I was also going to suggest used chamomile tea bags for relief of eye irritation. My mom did that when we were kids.

Hmmm ... since I don't have a sister, I'll just have to go find a donor!

If you use an eye condom, you won't get an infection in the first place

Maybe there should be a lactating womens register for such emergencies! And it comes with such a handy dandy applicator and all
