Hey all, I sold my beast to downsize to a 600 mainly to up the handling and lower the weight. I rode my heavy Zx750 for the last two years, been riding various bikes/sportbikes for 5 years.
I have a chance at either of these bikes through my work, for very low whoelsale cost. The Zx6R is slightly more than the R6.
I ride pretty much daily during the season, usually to and from work in shitty traffic, and out on the highways, with 1-2x a week time for a longer twisty fast ride. No track. I ride fast, but I am not a knee-dragger.
I'm trying to pick which would be the best for ME, based on my riding style and use. I am going to do a side by side compare this week, but I'd like to hear input. I have read the reviews of the 2000 lineup. Basically the R6 shows up best for canyon carvers and track, but not for general use. ZX6R got tops for best all-rounder. Brakes are comparible on the two, R6 has stiffer chassis and suspension. ZX6R has smoother tranny and powerrange. I like the look and stance of the R6. I like Kawi motors. Both got really good reviews overall. Spots 1 and 2 in the lineup that year. I do intend to do some long rides and touring, but I do this on pretty much any bike anyhow.
Higher KM's than the R6, body intact, good shape, well maintained, needs nothing.
Low Km's not well maintained, possibly was used for attempts at stunting, needs all new fairings, was way overfilled with oil. Tranny seems ok.
Let me know what one you would recommend. I manage a shop so labour is not an issue, but I don't want a bike that will take up too much time, or be a shitty ride.
I know either is going to be a vast improvement over the ZX7, though I am sure I will miss the stability and torque.
