Holy crap, I decided to do some maintenance work on my Gixxer this week, in hopes of nice weather soonish.
Little history. I bought this bike the beginning of last season. Changed the oil, put new rubber on it, changed the brake fluid, and rode it. That was it. By the end of the season, it started running shitty, and getting horrible fuel mileage. Plus the coolant was not looking so good.
Anyway, pulled all the plastics off of it this week, and decided to change all the fluids, rejet and service the carbs, etc.
What I found was kinda scary. When I pulled the tank, the fuel lines under it, were BARELY hanging onto the barbs of the petcock, and the petcock has been leaking for quite some time. I also found a MASS of rancid old grease around the front sprocket, which has been flinging shit onto my back tire.
Additionally, most of the fuel hoses and vacuum lines are cracking, and so are the brake hoses!
Wow, I bought a death trap, my mom was right! Oh well, I only put 7000km on it last year, and at least this year, all this shit will be addressed. Moral of the story is, if you buy a used bike, might wanna pull the plastics, and see how bad a death machine you're riding.
