So, here's a little background. I've always had 2 cats, but find myself with only 1 right now. No no, second one didn't die, my mom kidnapped her, and took her to live in Chilliwack. I protested, but was quickly reminded I forgot mom's birthday last year. So yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, you get to steal my cat.
Anyway, now I have only 1, and I've been thinking of a second one. Most likely a kitten, in hopes she will get along ok with the existing cat(8 years old).
Anyway, I go into the Surrey SPCA shelter last Sunday, and notice the price of adopting a kitten is $175! Now, don't get me wrong, I have donated more than that to the SPCA before, without even taking an animal home, BUT, 2 years ago, when I adopted my other cat, she was only $58. That was from Vancouver shelter. My buddy in Kamloops, paid $95 for his cat.
Anyone else recently adopted a kitty from any local shelters? I'm curious what the costs were. If Vancouver is still $58, I'll be making a drive out that way, when I'm ready to adopt again. $175 just seems somewhat excessive.
