When it comes to claming the HRTC on your tax return - What can you claim?
I cannot find an indepth list as to things you can / can't claim
Renovating a kitchen, bathroom, or basement
New carpet or hardwood floors
Building an addition, deck, fence or retaining wall
A new furnace or water heater
Painting the interior or exterior of a house
Resurfacing a driveway
Laying new sod
Furniture and appliances (refrigerator, stove, couch)
Purchase of tools
Maintenance contracts (furnace cleaning, snow removal, lawn care, pool cleaning, etc.)
I've been doing quite abit of reno work.. just unsure what I can claim. heres a small list of things I'm unsure of
I can claim the cost of the crown molding, but cannot claim the cost of the caulking/nails used. correct?
I can claim the cost of paint, but cannot claim the cost of the rollers/trays/poles. correct?
I can claim the cost of the slate tile... mortar and grout used claimable?
I'm taking my kitchen cabinets in to get re-sprayed, is that claimable? cost of paint/labour?
Are light switches/ plugs claimable?
I'm installing new countertops, is the cost of counter top installation claimable on the HRTC?
kitchen fixtures? handles/ drawer pulls?
Kitchen faucet? (or does that fall under an appliance?)
