So i witness a car make a left turn at a 4 way intersection right in front of a police cruiser - the cop has to jam on the brakes to avoid hitting this guy. The left turner panics and stops in the oncoming lane, then puts it in reverse and moves out of the cops way. You expect buddy to be getting a ticket, or at least a nice verbal chewing out right? Nope. Cop just sits there and looks at the guy for 5 seconds and drives off. How the hell can they justify sitting on the highway (91) outside my office pulling over one person every few minutes with the lidar, and yet they let the actual dangerous drivers get off with nothing more than a "oh s#$%" moment? I'm losing what little respect I had for their traffic enforcement routines. I'm waiting on their watch commander to phone me back so i can leave a formal complaint.
It's so similar to a close call i saw a couple of years back - coming down 6 road in the left lane, there's a motorcycle in the right lane a couple of seconds ahead of me, and as we approach cambie, a left turner coming the other way pulls the turn right in front of the bike. The biker lays on the horn and has to swerve AROUND the left turning car. If the bike had braked he would have been toast. Immediately behind the left turner was a marked cruiser, who just carried on going. No stop - NOTHING.
