So much for secured underground parking...

You know all those stories about underground parking lots being a theft magnet?

Well, I never took them too seriously... after all, to get to my car/bike one has to get through 2 gates and this building has never had any theft problems.

Went down to the parking 20 minutes ago to find the driver's side window on my car smashed to shit (bike was not touched, thankfully). Glove box and other storage turned upside down. Nothing taken as far as I can see. They didn't even open the trunk as everything there is still organized.

I left a message w/ the Burnaby RCMP and headed back up. Met a nice old lady from my building who informed me that I'm numero 22. Sunday night 22 cars had been broken into. The fuckers had wire cutters and cut through the two gates. Very fucking secure.

Our cameras? As it turns out, they don't fucking record. They only display the shit for bored residents on channel 116. Very useful shit.

To top it all off? I don't have comprehensive on the car, just basic. Fuuuuck. (Yeah, I'll be keeping that comprehensive on my bike, especially now that the fuckers have seen it.)

Something tells me that when I get this fixed I'll be making two new investments:
    - alarm
    - BFBB (big fucking baseball bat)

Now, anyone have recommendations for a window-install shop?

Bunch of pricks. People like this need their hands cut off. For bike thefts, i wonder what the numbers and percentages are between underground vs street parking.

    May I make a recommendation?
Instead of a BFBB, have one of those big Mag-Lites. If you should have the opportunity to pummel some ne'er-do-well into a bloody pulp, it's much easier to justify why one was carrying a flashlight as opposed to a bat.

Not to mention they're easier to remove the evidence from, I mean clean.

Welcome to strata life. Unless you have cameras and security guards, it is a very common occurrence. If I were a thief, why wouldn't I want to get into a warm(er) place full of cars all together in a small area rather than prowl around on the streets looking for random cars?

    I don't wanna buy a new flashlight every 2 or 3 days though ... I'm cheap and those aren't.

In my experience Camera's only serve to give you a memento of the experience, and security guards only serve as another corrupt individual to aid the thieves.

Slingshot, good idea about checking out junk yards. Will do. Just don't have the damn time to go around them these days... worst timing possible.

Also took note on that MagLite suggestion!

    Called a few auto-glass companies.

    Got a couple quotes:
    - $300 (taxes in) installed
    - $295 (taxes in) installed

Not as bad as I initially thought... Gonna get this taken care of today...

hmmm.. tough decision. I'd go with the $295 dollar one. Seems cheaper than the $300 one.

    you're welcome!

A ducati rider saying go for the cheap option? Doesn't seem right.

If they had wanted your bike they'd a had it..
If they busted into 22 cars they're the lowest of the low looking for change or stuff easy to pawn..
