I think being unemployed is driving me stir crazy. Anyway, I was brainstormin' tonight (vodka + freshly squeezed OJ = neuron activity) & had a few thoughts to pass along. Does anyone think a hardcopy 'BCSB-type' magazine would be viable? We could have articles written by various members about two-wheeled life in the lower mainland.
Featured articles on:
- ride reports (larger organised rides)
- maintenance tips & how-to's
- product reviews
- ladies-specific content
- gatherings (e.g., bike nights, breakfast meeting diaries...)
- race reports (Mission, Wash. State, etc)
- event reports (e.g., Vancouver Motorcycle Show, etc)
- bike reviews
- etc, etc, etc
Our magazine would not be found on newstands, but available thru an online publisher like Magcloud (I am registered), or similar. Printing a mag would cost approx 25 cents per page. So yeah, even a 25-pager could get expensive. Of course costs would decrease significantly with some advertisers onboard but that may detract from the fuck me I just spilled pulp all over me frickin keyboard %^&*#@%&. So yeah, like I was saying allowing advertising might take away from the 'community' flavour of the magazine. But hey, I'm sure there's plenty of good points for either side.
Hit me with your thoughts.
