I've got a 2003 ZX-6RR with a poor running issue. I'm looking for a very qualified Kawi tech/shop in the Lower Mainland to take it to, as I do not have the time to work on it myself. I have already taken it to one shop, and they did not have any luck resolving the issue.
Above 6000 RPM, the bike dramatically loses power, and a tailpipe exhaust analysis shows an extremely lean mixture. The bike starts and runs fine below this point. It has 20 000 kms on it, and I have been meticulous with oil changes, etc. At appox. 6 grand, it literally feels as if someone is shutting off the fuel, or blocking the throttle body intakes. I have changed the plugs, and the shop I took it to swapped (from another bike of same) the fuel tank and pump, computer, throttle bodies and injectors, etc etc and ran dyno tests showing no improvement. Since getting the bike back, I have tested fuel pressure at idle, and erased all the trouble codes (caused by shop running bike with various sensors disconnected). Another ride of reasonable duration should allow the ECM to register any genuine trouble codes, but again I do not have the time.
As I already have $500 invested in fixing the problem, I am not interested in taking the bike to another shop that will simply swap out parts. I'm convinced that there is one simple fuel injection/timing/sensor issue that is causing the problem, and simply needs to be diagnosed properly. I would like a dyno run and printout after the issue is resolved, to compare to previous HP outputs. Anyone have any recommendations for specific shops/techs that they have had good luck with?
I consider myself an excellent person to deal with as a customer. Being an industrial mechanic myself, I have realistic expectations, I don't bitch and moan about price, and I pay cash.
Thanks for the input!
