Please excuse the naivete of this question, but I recently bought an SV650 in need of a front tire.
My riding will be entirely street (no track) and not a heck of a lot of miles.
The rear is a Bridgestone BT50R which looks to be at about 70% treadlife. I have no idea when the tire was bought or mounted. I was planning to match it up with an equivalent front tire but the BT50R is no longer available. Moreoever, I am not sure what a BT50R is, if I would even like it, or what it is closest to, since it is an obsolete model type.
So I have a few basic options:
1) Get a BT014 or 021 and keep the BT50R on the rear. If so, anyone know which would be a better choice?
2) Get another brand type tire for the front (Qualifier, Power Pilot 2CT) and leave the BT50R on the rear until it also wears out, then replace it to match front. Any risks/problems with that? Any recommendation?
3) Get a new matched set, which would be a bigger squeeze on the wallet, thus my least desirable choice. Also, I would have to know what works well on the SV.
