And the new TV coverage? Showing Superbike from Daytona on the 21st??? Whatever..... How do you possibly grow a sport with delayed coverage like that? It's not the 70s. Everyone knows the race results the day of the race.
Yeah, it is.
I was never all the invested in watching AMA, partly due to the commentators, partly due to the fact that the facing in superbike wasn't very exciting. Now, the whole thing has a nasty Nascar-stench that I just can't get over.
It's unfortunate that the riders and the fans are the ones losing out. Especially at a time when the economy is making it harder to get the promotion dollars.
I found seeing a 'pace car' rather off-putting....

Daytona the center of world racing...hmmm. Don't think so. Their production looked a little on the amateur side of things.

Don't get me wrong, I believe Edmonson is the cheif butt-head in a crew of beer swilling NASCAR morons, but wasn't the purse for the Daytona round bigger? I heard that they were trying to make the prize money a useful incentive.
For example, I think Al Shmidt collected $5000 grand for rolling in 19th. I know $5000 grand isn't that much money compared to what it costs to get a race prepped bike to the race track with tires on it and fuel in it, but then, 19th isn't exactly on the podium either.

The DMG/AMA would need to take a two hour bus ride to even get to the point of being called a joke!!!

So many things about the changes made in the series are just dumb and you're left shaking your head. Personally I'm taking a wait and see attitude.. no matter what, it's still motorcycle racing and I like that so I'll still be watching. life is a constant state of evolution, racing series the same.. You need change for better or for worse. Look at what was happening in the Ducati Cup (WSBK) they made changes and look at the championship now..

AMA couldn't come to a "financial agreement" for the Miller Motorsports Park round with WSBK. So it's just WSBK and Supersport. Wonder what venue they will use to make up that date.
AMA has been shooting themselves in the foot for years. On a local level, they took their sanction away from Hannegan racetrack in Bellingham because the owners went with an insurance company that they got the best deal from. The AMA told them they had to go with their insurance company or lose sanction. Mt Baker MC told the AMA where to go.
Face it. Racing is a bunch of power hungry dick heads trying to make money from the people who just love the sport.
But, I'll be there at Miller for WSB and there will be very little straight lines in my map on the way there.
