Long story short:
Some Aizerbajanians robbed a bank and killed one person. Wounded another. They drove off in a black Cayenne with the numbers 177 on the plate to "Lenin Ave" (there are no "Avenues" in Russia, but I don't know the proper street name). Russian MVD (friendly SWAT-like fellas) were called in to intercept. They grabbed the first black Cayenne with matching plates... whoops, wrong guys, let's move it to the side. Hey look! Second black Cayenne with matching plates! Time to paaaartyyyy!
Basically someone jotted down the numeric part of the plates, but not the letters... Wrong place wrong time for the first Cayenne... but realistically, if you're driving a Cayenne in Moscow, chances are it's only a matter of time before you get (intentionally) raided by MVD anyways...
Just figured I'd post an effective alternative to the "sir, please put down that weapon and place your hands behind your back while we contact your lawyer and order you a pizza" technique.
On a side note, it's interesting that they were actually able to rob the bank in the first place. Back when I was a kid in Ukraine, my dad used to work as a programmer for one of the larger banks in the city. One time the silent alarm was accidentally triggered, and a moment later 5-6 guys rushed in wearing tactical clothing and armed with AKs... LOL. Don't rob that bank .
On a further side note, I've seen AK-armed guards at supermarkets in Ukraine, too. No five-finger discounts there
