I still like to visit the Toronto forum, as it's a lively one. Regardless, was on today and got into an "web arguement" with a guy over the merits of Sidi vs. Daytona boots. Who doesn't love web arguements?
For context, I think that Daytona boots, like the FAST riding school in Ontario, are both the Holy Grails. Meaning, you can't say anything wrong against them without everyone jumping down your throat - kind of limits valid discussion.
So, hoping it's a little different on this forum. Question to you guys: What is this obsession with Daytona boots? I understand they are expensive, and the top of the line Evo's are hand built. I owned the mid tier ones, the GTX's and sold them for a pair of the Sidi Corsa's I just got. I didn't like the fit of the GTX's.
Protection wise - on the Ontario forum there seems to be a perception that you can literally take the Sidi Corsa's and break them in half with your hands at the ankle joint, where as with the Daytona's you cannot (especially with the carbon fibre Evo's). I tried researching on the net about other comparison's between the two, and no others mentioned this issue with the Sidi's being not as protective. However, every forum you go on, Daytona's are always 'mentioned' as the top of the line. Are there comparisons/tests that verify this?
Personally, I really think the Sidi's are comprable to the Daytona's, especially the Sports GTX's. The Sidi's are top of the line Italian boots worn by top level riders worldwide, so wouldn't they be just as good?
