OK, so I have a Shoei RF-1000 (manufacture date is 2006, can't read the month) that seems to periodically go through a phase of being crazy noisy. It started last year in the spring and I traced the problem back to the shield mounting bolt:
Removing the shield and having a closer look shows both the bolt and threads are OK, and for last while I have had to tighten this bolt (both sides) about once a month which seems a bit excessive. If I don't tighten it, the thing will come out as in the photo.
My question is whether or not it is safe to use something like threadlock? The thread insert appears to be plastic, and I don't want to use any product that will wreck it, I am just looking to avoid having to tighten this bolt regularly.
